Re: Whats Wrong with the Passwrd.
It sounds as though someone set a password without your knowledge. Take your model number and go to Funai's website to look up the owners manual http://www.emersonaudiovideo.com/support/manuals.aspx

HI, Do the following for unlock the parental control. For this you should need the remote for the DVD payer. 1. Press the set-up button on the remote (set-up display will come on the TV screen ) 2. Using Right arrow button or Left arrow button select DVD Setup menu 3. Using Down arrow select Parental control and press Enter button 4. now you can change the parental rating using up down arrows If it ask for password the read the following carefully and do the same and enjoy your videos. PARENTAL CONTROL LEVELS 1-8
The Parental Lock allows you to limit the use of your DVD
Player to only those DVD discs that do not exceed the rating you specify. When
the Parental Control is set, DVD discs that support this feature will play only
after the password has been entered. However, typically only discs produced by
major entertainment companies support Parental Control. Discs not supporting
this feature will be "immune" to Lock-Out.
When you attempt to change the Parental Control setting, you are
prompted for a password. This of course makes sense, as this option would be
useless if your kids could enter the Setup Menu and disable it! If there is no user
password set, you'll be prompted to enter a new password. Choose a 4-Digit
numeric password and write it down in Case
you forget it. Key in the password and press ENTER. After the password is set,
press ENTER on the CHILD option. You can choose from 8 levels of Parental
Control, corresponding to the standard rating system in the USA. The available
levels and their equivalent ratings are listed to the right.
PASSWORD - CHANGE
Here is where you can set an additional password to the
default factory password. The procedures to change an existing password or
enter a new password are the same - you
must enter the OLD PASSWORD, then key
in your new password twice to confirm. If you are entering a new password, or replacing a password you
have forgotten, use the factory default
password of 3351 as the OLD PASSWORD. If you are changing a previously entered
password, you may enter that value as the
old password.
A. Remember to keep
in mind that the key to the the factory default password of 3351
B. Once the factory password has been changed, you should keep the password
written in a safe location as a reminder if needed Ajin
If you are able to, go into the setup menu, select 'parental control', check the rating (8 is restricted - 1 is no restriction), and 'unlock' (if you have not set a password) then exit the setup. This should solve the issue for all future discs (parental lock is a pointless feature in DVD players, as often, owners set passwords, only to forget them later, so they cannot undo this function).
* This is for a Zenith XVB442 DVD/VCR combo, but essentially a similar setup *
If you forget your 4-digit password If you forget your password, to clear the current password follow the procedure below. 1 Press SETUP to display the setup menu. 2 Enter the 6-digit number 210499 and then press ENTER. The 4-digit password is cleared. 3 Enter a new password then OK.
I do not recommend setting parental lock passwords in DVD players, but you may not need to do this, so the above is a 'just in case'.
Please follow the instuctions below to reset the password and switch off the parental control on the Zenith DBV412.
1. Switch on the TV and DVD player 2. Switch the TV to the input for the DVD player 3. Remove any disc from the player 4. Press the SETUP key on the Zenith remote to open the on-screen menu 5. Press 2 1 0 4 9 9 using the numerical keys on the Zenith remote. 6. Press SETUP again to close the menu
This will clear any password that has been set. Now you need to switch off the parental control:
8. Press the SETUP key to open the on-screen menu again 9. Use the down arrow to highlight the PADLOCK for the parental control settings 10. Press the RIGHT arrow once to enter the parental control menu 11. Highlight RATING and press the RIGHT arrow once.
You will be asked to set a password. Enter something simple and easy to remember, e.g. 0000 then press ENTER. You will need to confirm the password by entering the same number again, then press enter again.
12. Use the UP/DOWN arrows to highlight UNLOCK then press ENTER 13. Press SETUP again to close the menu
You should now be able to insert your Across the Universe disc and play it. If you are still unable to watch the disc or you are unable to switch off the parental control feature, please let me know.

any channel. When using this as a Parental Control method, remove access to any remote that is capable of
operating the television.

2. Press the button until the Parental Control icon is highlighted.
3. Press the button until the bottom PASSWORD is highlighted.

Start the PS2 up and load the DVD. When it shows the Parental screen select YES. When the Password box pops up. Press the Select button on the controller. Type in 7444. Then your password is reset. It will ask you to enter another password. Do that twice. Allow the movie to start. When it gets going pause the movie, Press the Select button on your controller again. The DVD menu pops up. highlight SETUP. When that setup screen appears go to the 3rd icon from the left. Press X. Then highlight Parental Code. Set the parental lockout level to OFF.
Same problems with my unit. But, try this... I think it worked. First, you can not get to the setup screen for the unit with a DVD in the player. So, remove the DVD first: Unplug the unit, wait a few seconds, plug it back in. Then hit the DVD open button and remove DVD in player.
I think the issue with not reading certain DVDs is a problem with the "parental control" on the unit. Without setting parental control there were a few DVDs I could not play and sometimes (not always) I was asked about parental control before a movie would play. At the Sony Blue DVD screen, select Setup on the remote control. Select DVD setup and get to Parental control. Set a password. This will then take you to a "rating" screen. By setting the rating very high (I set mine for #8) any movie should play without needing the password. With no password set, you can not change the "rating" and hence mine was set at #1 (kids). It seems to have worked for now anyway. Good luck.
Put in a DVD, and press select button to go to PS2 DVD menu. highlight setup menu. Press X. go to settings I think, and paretal control is there. Use password 7444. Usually everyone sets the password to 0000. Then when you go into the parental settings, turn the level value to OFF
With a DVD disc inserted in your PS2, press the Select button to bring up the on-screen Control Panel.
Press the X button to select the Setup icon.
Use the directional pad to reach the "Custom Setup" menu, and press the X button.
Move to "Parental Control" and select with the X button. A window will appear asking you to enter a four-digit password.
Enter your choice of password using the number buttons that appear then enter it again for confirmation.
You're now able to set the Parental Control level using the "Region" and "Level" options, and change your password
