My 30 year old GE compact washer won't spin

I can't believe it can't be fixed. This is a GE Model WWP 1150 compact clothes washer. It tries to spin, but is anemic and eventually quits trying. I checked the belt and it's tight. The problem might be in the controls. I'd replace it, but I can't find another washer that will fit in the same space. It's only 21 inches deep. What are the possibilities?

GE washer will NOT spin, but does all other functions.

I have GE washer WHDRR418G1WW the spin cycle stops before the clothes are spun. The clothes at the bottom of the washer are completly soaked. The washer is less than 2 years old

Can you hear the pump run before spin occurs. If not, it might be junk in the pump impeller housing.

Doesnt agitate or spin.

Mine is 1 1/2 years old and this worked for me

unplug from power for at least 30 seconds

turn the dial to spin but don't pull out

plug back in to power and open and shut completely so switch is engaged solidly 11 times in 15 seconds.

pull out knob to turn on

This should clear a error code.

It washes but will not spin

After having a similar problem and looking all over this website, I found a lot of answers from "experts" saying that the washer should be replaced, or replace the motor, etc.
I just found this at the GE website, and it cured the problem in less than 2 minutes. I'm no expert, but I'd at least recommend trying this.

Can't get agitator off of GE spacemaker model WWP 1180G

There is a bolt, ok. Remove the bolt and lift the agitator by reaching underneath it with both hands on each side and pull it up. If it seems really stuck, apply some WD40 and let it soak a bit before trying to pull it again.

Noise during spin cycles

GE WPXH214ACC Washer drum makes loud noise when spinning sometimes. We've had it since 2005 & never had this happen before. Washer is level, must stop & redistribute clothes to correct. Just started happening now.

Possible your outlet filter is blocked. This requires cleaning depending on your usage. Clean this out and refit. Good luck. Plug off the wall first.
