Can you remove the back panel inside the freezer and defrost the coils. Use a shop vac with the hose in the blow position instead of the vacuum position. And blow on the coils to defrost quickly. Hair dryers work also but prolonged use will burn up hair dryers. Now turn back on and see if the inside the freezer fan works. It should be running to keep the coils from freezing up. Also could be defrost timer. But this will be enough to get you going. Let me know how it goes. ken

What should I check if the refrigerator is not cooling/working, but the freezer works fine?

first off what kind of frige and model number, the freezer feeds the fridge so no cold air is being blown into the fridge section from the freezer, open the freezer door,if you don't hear the fan blowing you could have a bad evap fan motor, put your hand on the back wall of the freezer,if there's ice or like snow on it you have a defrost problem, bad defrost thermostat, heater, timer or board depending on the machine, this is why i need the model number, also on some machines there is a damper that opens and closes to let the cold air into fridge section or the door was left open and the air vents are froze up,most common on bottom mount freezers, look at the freezer ceiling and packages,if you see frozen water droplets on the ceiling or packages it's a sure sign the door was left open.hope this helps.

During heavy frost everything froze solid even drainage pipe. I notice that my freezer (top half) is not cooling at all. All food has gone soggy. Fridge is just cool. Will it right itself once kitchen...

It's possible the unit is not working correctly as it expects the air temperature to be around 18 degrees centigrade. If too cold, they can go into a defrost cycle.

If your food is not cold enough - but your room is frozen - can you pack your freezer items in snow? Alternatively, move the unit to a warmer area.

Sounds strange - but modern units don't work well in the cold !

Your tech doesn't have the issue completely fixed. You have a defrost issue and defrosting manually is just the start to resolving your issue. You have to diagnose why it fails to defrost. You have a heater, control thermostat, frost sensor, etc. to check for a failure after defrosting it. Get someone that knows how to complete the job right!

Frigidaire 16.5cu top mount not cooling fridge. freezer is froze

The baffle that opens to allow cooling into the refrigerator may be blocked, broken or mis wired. These units work by just cooling the freezer and then blowing some cold air into the refrigerator whenever the fridge thermostat calls for it. The fridge's thermostat is trying to cool the refrigerator but something is preventing the cool air from getting to the refrigeration part, that's why it's freezing up the freezer

YOUR DEFROST TIMER MAY BE BAD OR THE HEATERS ARE BAD. WHAT HAPPENS IS THE EVAPORATOR IS FROZE OVER WITH ICE AND CAN'T TRANSFER THE COLD . UNPLUG THE FRIDGE FOR A FEW HOURS (HAVE RAGS AND MOP READY) AND IT WILL WORK AGAIN TEMPORALLY . THE LESS YOU OPEN THE DOORS THE LONGER IT WILL LAST.. BACK IN THE DAY IT WAS CALLED DEFROSTING THE FRIDGE AND WAS DONE ONCE A MONTH OR SO
