Info box on screen will not go away in video input mode

I can't get the little box up in the right corner to go away. With antenna selected as input, the box comes on for a few seconds and then goes away, but in video input mode, it just stays on forever, which is really annoying. Thanks, mgfoster

No, it is not either of those. It is a small box in the upper right corner that has the channel information (or video in this case), and sound information. It should only stay on for a few seconds, as it does in "antenna" mode, but in video mode, it won't ever go away. We've tried turning on and off every option in every menu, to no avail.

I think the box that you are referring to is the text caption. On your remote go into menu and go to caption. Turn off the text caption off. If this does not fix it than it is the PIP box. This is your picture in picture box and this could be turned off by just pressing on Swap button on your remote.See if this works. Please send more information if this doesn't work. Good luck

My tv keeps flashes blank screen and pops up in corner HDMI 3 unknown 1080i FHD ! What does thang mean and why is it doing this?

Input source HDMI3 format is not recognized. Try selecting a different input source or connect a known good HDMI device to the HDMI3 input.

If you normally watch local broadcast TV from an antenna you need to change the "SOURCE" input to ANT (ANTENNA).

Televison station won't scan

If you are receiving a "No Signal" error message, verify that:
  1. All of the cables physically connected to the TV and the input device are secure.
  2. The input device is turned on.
Your TV needs to scan for channels before it can show programming from an antenna, from cable TV when the cable comes directly from the wall (no cable box), or from a cable or satellite box connected to the TV with a coaxial (RF) cable. Do not scan for channels if you have a cable or satellite box connected using AV (Composite), Component, or HDMI cables. The box selects the channel, not the tuner inside your television. If you are not using the "TV" input, press the INPUT button on your remote until the correct input mode is selected.
To perform a channel scan using the coaxial input:
  1. Press the INPUT button on your remote to view your current input source. The TV (coaxial cable) input must be selected. This may appear as "TV," "ANT," or the channel and call letters of a station.
  2. If the TV input is not selected, press INPUT until the TV input mode is selected.
  3. Open the on-screen menu and select TV or Tuner option. (This varies by model.)
  4. Highlight Tuner Mode and select the correct option:
    • Antenna-over-the air signals from an antenna
    • Cable-direct from the wall cable TV, or a cable or satellite box connected to the TV with coaxial cable
  5. Select Auto Search or Auto Channel Scan. (This varies by model.)
  6. When the search reaches 100% complete, exit to the menu.
  7. Check the available channels:
    • Antenna or direct-from-wall cable-Press the Channel Up and Channel Down buttons on your VIZIO TV remote to view the available channels.
    • Cable or satellite box- Will return only one channel. Use the cable or satellite remote's Channel Up and Channel Down buttons.
If this does not resolve the issue, power cycle the TV and then re-run the channel scan:
  1. Turn off the TV.
  2. Unplug the TV from the electrical outlet.
  3. While the TV is unplugged from the wall, press and hold the Power button on the TV for 30 seconds.
  4. Release the power button.
  5. Plug the TV back into the electrical outlet.
  6. Turn on the TV.
Note: There is also an option to reset the TV to the factory default settings. This option is in either the SETUP or SYSTEM section of the on-screen menu. The option may be "Reset all settings", "System Reset," or "Reset & Admin." Consult your TV's user manual for the location and steps for resetting your model.
  1. Remove the coaxial cable from the DTV/TV connector on the back of your television and perform a channel scan to clear the existing channels. See the procedure above. This should not find any channels.
  2. Re-attach the coaxial cable to the DTV/TV connector and perform a new channel scan.
This video shows troubleshooting steps to use when a "No signal" message appears.

Family Timer on the box and I dont have a pass word. How do I over ride?

Hello,

Do you know the the answer to the random question that was set?

If you dont then try this:

Start by going to the SYSTEM tab and select CONSOLE SETTINGS. Scroll all the way down to the bottom and select SYSTEM INFO.

When you open up this screen, just hit these buttons in this order: LEFT TRIGGER, RIGHT TRIGGER, X, Y, LEFT BUMPER, RIGHT BUMPER If it doesn't work right away, just try it again.

A screen should pop up asking you if you would like to reset the settings. This won't delete your profile or anything so select YES. The XBOX will restart itself and it will then ask for the language and country again.
Next it will ask for info on the pass code. Choose the rating you want the code for and then input your new code.

Hope this helped?

I cannot get vcr to record channels timer goes on and on playback blue screen

I assume it plays back a pre-recorded film with no problem? Check your antenna is connected to the input of the VCR or your cable box. If you have a cable box connected via a scart connector, then select AV channel on the VCR & select the programme from the cable box. If you are using the antenna the go into the set up menu & retune the VCR into your incoming channels & ensure the flylead from the output of the VCR (at the rear of the video next to where the antenna cable is positioned) is connected to the input antenna socket of the TV.

I have a Sony Trinaton XBR about 6 years old. Works great. Have Comcast cable and they recently installed a new cable box. Now I get all cable channels on "Video 6 - DVD" rather than "Video 7 -Cable Box"....

Hi,
I was awaiting your response in chat session but could not get any thing.
Please hook cable box in Video input-7 instead of Video input-6 in TV and select Video input-7 with remote on TV.
Regarding continues on-screen display of video-6, press Display button on TV remote once, on-screen display will disappear.
Thanks.

Completely lost the picture and sound. All that

You didn't mention from where your signal originates and that clue screen is common to many sets and means it is seeing no input signal.
The set would seem to be functional, otherwise you wouldn't be seeing the input selection menu.
While it is possible that the RF section/tuner (that handles the signal coming in) has failed, these are pretty solid.
If you have another set or can borrow one to connect to whatever source you have (antenna, cable, satellite) to see if a signal is, in fact, there.  As an alternative, you could connect your own signal source; VCR, DVD player, or, as it offers, HDMI or a PC and set it to whichever input you have supplied with signal.

Lable in Righthand corner on INPUT1 wont go away

When an HD cable box or satellite receiver is connected with HDMI, the information banner in the corner of the screen does not go away when the TV is on that input. The Plasma Display automatically selects an appropriate screen size when video signals are received from a connected HDMI equipment. The TV's attempt to search for aspect ratio information through the HDMI connection can cause the information banner to stay on the screen, if the data is not found. To turn off the Auto Size, please follow these steps: 1 Press HOME MENU. 2 Select (Option). ( / then ENTER) 3 Select (Auto Size). ( / then ENTER) 4 Select (OFF). ( / then ENTER)

Channal selector down

Sounds like it is changing to another video mode that has no input so the screen is blue. On many tv's the channel buttons also act as video input button. This should happen with the buttons on the tv. If you are using the the remote I am not sure why it is acting like a video input button. Try changing video to tv with one and changing the stations with the other. I take it you are watching antenna tv and not using cable box or satellite. If this does not work and you have old vcr just use it as a tuner to change your channels.
