SOURCE: Cancel Light Flashing on Kitchen Aid Dishwasher

I ran into this same problem. Cutting the power didnt reset it.

After power reset, mine had the normal led blinking. If I pressed cancel, then the cancel and china button leds would start blinking too.

I pulled out the trouble shooting guide (from behind the baseboard kick panel under the dishwasher door). It that if the dishwasher wont run and button LEDs are blinking there is a short circuit in the keypad. It gave a keypad diagnostic sequence which I followed. (disconnect keypad and try to initiate the diagnostic cycle without the keypad by disconecting the yellow leads to OWI sensor twice in less than 6 seconds.

I could hear the diagnostic cycle start, so the problem is a bad keypad. Will order a new one tomorrow and let you know if it works.

SOURCE: Kitchen Aid dishwasher is not cleaning like it use to

Check the following to address this issue further.

1. No water
Make sure you get water to the dishwasher. Check to see if the water shut-off valve (located under the sink) is open. If you get water to the dishwasher, but there is still no water inside during the fill cycle, the problem might be with a faulty water valve (located at the bottom of the dishwasher, behind the kick panel, on either side), in which case replace the water valve.

2. Not enough water
If there is not enough water, the dishes would not get cleaned. This could be caused by a partially closed water shut-off valve (located under the sink), or a faulty dishwasher water valve (located at the bottom of the dishwasher, behind the kick panel, on either side).

3. Clogged spay arms
There is usually two, sometimes three spray arms in a dishwasher. Make sure there is no debris blocking the holes inside each spray arm.

4. Water temperature is too low
To get the best results, the water has to be at 120 degrees Fahrenheit when entering the dishwasher.

5. Not enough soap
If you only fill one part of the soap cup, try adding soap to both parts.

6. Smoky film on dishes and glasses
This problem occurs due to excessive calcium build up inside the dishwasher. Try cleaning you dishwasher using a dishwasher cleaner. There are a few out there.

My kitchen aid dishwasher will not start

Most all dishwashers are controlled by the wall switch close to the sink. This switch is often shut off accidentally because it looks like a light switch. Be sure this switch stays on.

Ran dish washer without water turned on.

The first thing these units do is check the pump. Put a gallon of water in it by hand then try to turn it on. See if it makes any effort to drain.

Did you try turning off the power and then connecting it again?
If still problem is there open the door. Press the following sequence of buttons HI Temp Scrub, Energy Saver Dry,HI Temp Scrub, Energy Saver Dry. Now close the dishwasher door and latch it too and press the cancel button. This must reset the dishwasher.

I have a Kitchen Aid dishwasher that is 12 years old. The "clean" light on the control panel is on and the machine won't start it's cycle. Can I reset the control panel?

Hello Lisa. Go to your electrical panel for your home or apartment and turn off the circuit to the dishwasher for two full minutes. Check to be sure that you have turned off the correct circuit by looking to see that the "clean" light is off. After two full minutes turn the circuit back on. This alone may reset the machine and the control panel.

If it does not, then you will have a decision to making regarding repair VS replace. I always make this recommendation to my customers with any appliance over 5 years old. Replace it. In this instance, the new dishwashers use much less water, much less electricity, are much quieter, and they do a much better job. The advancements in dishwasher technology and design have been remarkable in the past three years. Joe

Mixer revs, then shuts off, will not reset

your kitchen aid has a little device inside called the hall effect sensor. These often come dislodged or just stop functioning. If you are mechanically inclined you can replace this yourself.

Kenmore Quiet Guard 2 keypad

Sounds like the electronic controls (smart card) are acting up. Try shutting off the power at your fuse box or shut off the circuit breaker for 1 minute them turn the power on again. This fix quite often works on electronic appliances.
