After turning on the lap top, no display found.
If you get the hard drive lights flashing on boot up, the system will probably be booting as normal, if so, use a torch and shine it onto your screen to see if your desktop shows, if so your backlighting has failed and only taking to a qualified repairer is advised. If the system has not booted into windows, but you know the screen is ok, next time you boot up try pressing F8 on boot up and see if windows enters safe mode, and when it has gone into safe mode, highlight 'Last known good configuration' and press enter to reboot. The other thing to try is to press F2 or Del on boot up and seeif you can get into the bios, if you can and can see the bios menu, you know the screen is ok, but there is something more serious wrong. If all else fails use your windows cd to boot into windows, but you will have to set in the bios your cd drive to be the first boot device and then press enter when prompted to repair windows if neccassary. Unfortunately it is difficult to diagnose from your description of the problem, as even the hard drive may be faulty.
