Does not spin all the way & Mildew smell

We have a problem with one we that was in the home we just purchased, go figure we had a great older set at our old place and got rid of them before we made sure our new and bigger ones worked all the way... The problem we seem to be having is that it will spin but not all the way, like it leaves the clothes soaked like it does not have enough time to finish the cycle out so we have to wring them out and it takes FOREVER...Also when we first opened it up it had a really bad mildew smell and it had black gunk all along the top of the drum on the inside, we cleaned it with an SOS pad and got it off but it still has a slight mildew smell, is there anything I can do to make it go away? Thank you.

You can poor bleach in it and let sit for a while. For your spin problem you may have a slipping clutch and dragging brake shoes. Will need to take apart to fix.

The washer has a terrible mildew smell. What can you do to eliminate this?

Take a rag and wipe out the inside of the door gasket. Also the best product to clean would be AFFRESH. You can purchase it at your local parts distributor or probably like lowes or home depot. Also leave your door cracked open between uses this will eliminate the mildew from building up.

Let me know if this helps

LG washing machine has AWFUL mildew smell

Same here. We bought ours January 2005. Love the machines and take great care of them, too. Then the smell in the washer which seemed to affect certain clothes, like thick sweat pants and t-shirts (they smelled really "sour"). After doing some searches I found on this site where someone had recommended using a product called Affresh. I figured I might as well try it since my other attempts failed. This really worked for me. I bought it at Home Depot for $7 for a pkg of 3. I used 3 tablets per their directions, as this was my first time using it (afterwards they recommend using only 1 tablet per month). I was totally amazed as the smell was gone. I hope it works for you, too!

LG washing machine has AWFUL mildew smell

Same problem and I was told to only use detergents with "HE" on the front of them for high energy. the soap without HE is too foamy and hence never truly drains out and causes a mildew smell. I also purchased something called "A" Fresh that I run in the washer every 6 weeks to keep the smell out. I got it at an appliance store for about $11.00 for 3 tablets

Admiral Washer smells like mildew

yes it could . If you are trying to pump the water 7 feet or more above the floor then it will at the end of the cycle get air into the drain hose causing cavatation, the result when the machines stops is the water running back down the drain hose back into the tub and that is what causes the musty smell.
Lower the drain if possible
