Kenmore 90 series will complete wash cycle and drain but not spin
I have a kenmore top loader washer that doesn't seem to be rinsing well and does not seem to be spinning all of the water out?
Sounds like the lid switch is not working. It is a safety feature to prevent the washer from spinning if the lid is open.If you look a the lid,you will see a small point that sticks out,The switch is locate under the rim, right where that point would contact with lid closed.

Hi Norm. Welcome to FixYa.
The first thing to check with the kind of symptoms your machine exhibits is the operation of the lid switch. Make sure that the pin/plunger on the lid itself has not broken off, and check the actuator lever on the switch itself. It is REALLY common on your model for the actuator arm to break off or crack, and this will cause no spin/no pump problems. Your machine is built by Whirlpool and the part number for the switch assembly is a 3849238. You can get it at any local whirlpool parts center in your area.
I hope you find this info helpful and thank you for allowing us to serve you.
Happy New Year from the FixYa crew!

I've had the same problem...you can purchase a replacement lid switch at your local appliance parts store for about $35. Fortunatly, the sales person at the appliance store had diagrams and provided instructions to replace the switch. I was able to finish the job and fix the switch in less than 1 hour. Good Luck.

Hello,
You definitely have a broken motor coupling. This is the piece that connects the motor to the trasmission. The pump is connected directly to the motor on the other side opposite of the coupler. When they break, the water will drain but the washer will not spin.
Here is a repair manual that will help you replace the motor coupler.
If you have anymore questions please ask. This is an inexpensive repair and something you can do yourself. Just refer to the coupler in the manual and you won't have any issues.
Thanks
