We had the same problem - we found that items on the top shelf were too far forward and stopping the dispenser from opening. Try making sure nothing is in the way when you shut the door.
Incredibly a strainer handle was protruding and indeed, stopping the tablet door from opening! I would have needed a hole to disappear into if I'd had a call out for that! My only defence was the handle was white!

I'm more than happy to give step-by-step instructions for replacing the detergent dispenser, however it's not cheap (about £50) and it probably doesn't need to be replaced. Some of the smaller components for the dispenser are available separately, so it would be better to work out what's wrong with it, before replacing any parts - or the entire unit.
The dispenser may be receiving an erroneous signal from the controller to open when the dishwasher is in delay start mode. To check this, switch the power off, insert a tablet in the dispenser, and slide the door closed. Make sure it clicks shut fully (push on the arrow on the door)and then wait for a few minutes to see whether it opens.
If the tablet will stay in the dispenser with the power off, there is nothing wrong with the dispenser. If it opens with the power off, you may just need a new dispenser door or a spring. Please try this simple test, then get back to me for further assistance.
If you are putting the tablet into the dispenser and closing the lid the problem is that the lid is not opening as it should. No problem actually, just toss the tab into the floor of the dishwasher. it will work just as well. Joe
Most likely, the eelectrical solenoid that releases the door's latch has failed. The control board may be the fault. The solenoid is in the door and in many models the board is too. If you wish to inspect either component, do it safely by insuring the power is disconnected. Some troubleshooting requires the power to be on. If you're comfortable working with live circuits, practice the utmost in safety. Let us know...
Put the tablet in the bottom of the washer ,do a wash cycle,if the tablet is used up the washer is not releasing the tablet till the end of the wash, if the tablet is still there the water is too hard or the tablet is faulty.
Exactly the same happened to our Hotpoint FWD70. The spring that holds the door latch in place has snapped. I removed all screws out of the door to find the spring and the metal rod it hooks onto and bend another hook into it (I didn't have a replacement spring), put it back together and the door works fine, although for some reason the dishwasher tablet doesn't release now!!
My recommendation is to switch over to a tablet and merely put the tablet on the floor of the dishwasher bypassing the soap holder all together. It should work just fine that way. good luck.
Hi, I don't usually put the tablet in the door holder. I just place it in the bottom of the washer . I aways am concerned that there will be soap residue. So this way utensils are getting washed as soon a the washer commences .I usually scrape debris off plates and utensils before I put them in the dishwasher. This works well. Hope this works well for you. Teresa
your not supposed to be using tablets in the bosch dishwasher. the ball on the tablet gets the lid stuck. the sticker on the door recomending tablet is advertisment. your owners manual says to use powder only
If the door handle appears loose, you could have a broken door latch which will prevent the dishwasher from running if the door is not able to latch properly. The latch usually has two micro switches that are pretty delicate. Not to accuse you of abusing your appliance, but if you're in the habit of slamming the dishwasher door shut, you could inadvertently break the switches in the door. The switch assembly and handle are sold separately, so you may need to purchase both. Let me know if this helps.
