I can't tell from the description but it sounds like the Degausser in the set stopped part way.-----does the purity change if with set on you turn the set itself?
You may have a problem with the capacitor. Normally the ones on the power supply circuit are the first ones to go out. Have it inspected for leaks or swelling. Also check out the unit for burnt resistors.
I have had my Sony KV-32FV15 for about 2 years now and nothing has ever gone wrong(even going through several moves.) I recently moved again and when I plugged in the TV, you can hear the sound perfectly but the screen just stays black. You can not even hear the squeal that the TV makes when comming on. Is there anything that I should initially look at to troubleshoot. I cannot afford at this time the $250 fee to repair my TV. I look forward to your input and hopefully I can get this TV working again.
Are you serious? You have used that television... in particular that CRT well beyond its predictable lifetime. Congratulations. Those are early symptoms of CRT failure. Your screen may turn green very soon also. It will occur any moment now. It is not cost-effective to repair. Welcome to the next generation. You will be amazed and delighted with LCD, plasma or DLP technology. [email protected]
