Volume control problem

Last night my 50 in. Maxent plasma started acting strange. The volume control kept turning itself down as if someone was leaning on the remote (they weren't). Then tonight it was fine for a while and then the same thing started happening again. We tried unplugging everything for a few minutes, but when we tried to turn it back nothing works. Anybody know whats happening here?

Thank you so much! We will find a local shop to get it fixed. (And I will definitely mention that we think the TV has "windex syndrome" :)

The MX50X1 uses a series of tac switches for ch+/- vol+/- and power. It would be my first suspect. The vol- tac switch may have become thermal or what we in the industry refer to as the windex syndrome. We see this a lot on direct view TVs usually because the switching board is directly below the screen and every time someone cleans the screen with windex an trace amount of the fluid might drip all the way down to the board and invade one or more of the tac switches. This isn't the only reason a tac switch goes bad or becomes thermal sometimes it just simply fails... Tac switches are cheap (less than $2.00) but the labor to put them in is probably one shop hour. Find a good shop and have them do it - - If you're not sure where to find one goto: http://www.nesda.com/locator/state_search.php and start your research from there... Good Luck Bill PS: Impress the shop you call and tell them you think your TV has developed the windex syndrome. They'll probably think you know a lot more than you do about TV repair. :)

There is no power at all. Last night the TV kept switching itself back on after being switched off. Now today nothing.

Unplug the tv for at least a minute and try again. or you may have lost your power supply on the tv, usually just a cap gets fried and can be fixed fairly easily with some soldering experience.

Hi i have MAXENT TV 50" plasma im loking for dish network remonte code to program on it please help

We show no codes listed for Maxent televisions. The best method for programming this remote is called a Power Scan, the steps are below:
Power Scan
1.) Hold down the clear "TV" button on the remote for four seconds, then press 500 pound ( #)
2.) Hold down the clear "TV" button on the remote for four seconds, press the big power button once.
3.) Press the channel up button once per second until the TV turns off then press pound (#).

I have a Mitsubishi 73"

i would suspect your control buttons on your front panel on the set have become shorted. specifically the volume buttom down. This is freezing you control functions. like someone is holding the volume down button all the time. or intermitantly. this cuircit board is on front of the set. I have seen this problem a few times at the shop. The common repair is to replace that button assembly cuircit board. I believe the last time it cost the customer around 85 dollars, but like all things depends on the part and the technician that puts it in.

I have a maxent 26inch LCD TV. Today, I was watching the TV when something very weird happened. The sound went all the way up to maximum and stayed there. I simply cannot turn the volume down...

Wow, that's a bit of an off brand...
It may be hard to find parts for.
If you can find parts, replacing the board with the audio section on it will be the easiest fix.
The cheapest fix is to get a stereo potentiometer, and put it inline with the speaker so that you at least have a manual volume.
If you are capable of running the unit into a stereo, see if the mute button works, the mute usually won't affect the line out, and you can control the audio from your stereo.

Here's a (quick and dirty) schematic of how to put a potentiometer in a speaker line correctly.
supertech_11_12.jpg
The idea is you can control the speaker anywhere from leads shorted (no sound) to leads across tv output (full volume). Choose a potentiometer value around 100 ohms with a linear taper if you can find it. Most pots will be logarithmic..for the most part it won't matter.

Need universal remote control code for maxent 42" plasma tv?

I hope that you have gotten this resolved, but if not, or if you have any other questions, here are the codes and some simple steps to run through.

1. Hold down the clear TV button until all lights light up at the top of the remote
2. Punch in a 3 digit code (provided below)
3. Press the # (POUND) button
4. Try powering the tv on/off, and the volume. If one or more of these functions do not work, start over from step 1 with a different code

Control Remote Codes

Mike,

Code 246 is the correct code for my Maxent plasma for my dish network remote. Remote is 5.3IR and it was made by EchoStar Technologies Corp. Part #142301. If yours is the same, good luck.

Maxent 50" plasma problem

We seem to have had the same problem. Green light keeps blinking but will not turn set on or off. I unplugged the set for a few minutes, plugged back in and works fine but will happen from time to time for no reason.
