Question about Kodak EasyShare DX4530 Digital Camera
I turned on my Kodak DX4530 and the LCD screen was completely Black but the text was still on there, and the menu screen is still working. But when I look at the LCD to get the view, it shows nothing (All Black Screen). The picture comes out all black too
The lens has gone.

CCD failure most likely. Format the card then try again or a new card. Kodak customer support for more info

i turn camera on writting comes on lense goes out do date then flashes red goes off lense still out doesnt come back in before it completly stopped i was able to take photo but came out black please help cathy
We had the DX4530 for 4 years and were very satisfied (took over 7000 pictures).
But recently 2 issues/problems staring to occur (not sure if they are related)
1.the preview screen sometimes goes black (text is still visible) and then subsequently even the picture is completely black. Sometimes when not using screen but viewfinder happens the same.
2. Sometimes the screen is fine but the picture turns fuzzy and VERY greenish tint, sometime pinkish/purplish (it never did it before).
Both of the problems do not happen always, it happens randomly (we are not able to find the pattern) and not very frequently (but we missed because of it few birthday pictures). Usually switching camera off and then on helps. We noticed though that the occurrence of this problem is rising and sometimes I had to switch it on/off few times.
Camera was working fine, then a photo came out with a green tint. Now, although the menu screen and text are all fine, the viewing screen is permamnantly black and any pictures taken are also just black. Have tried removing the memory card, but this makes no difference.
this is the same thing with mine. turn the camera on thecamera is black, take the picture comes black. no pict. i fill like i am getting a run around form kodak. i send to kodak ,they send it back ,saying wrong place .on line go to this web to that web.
Formatted the memory card but all photo's still come out black in the viewfinder and on the card. Had the camera for a while now and lots of pictures sounds like the life expectancy of the camera's at it's end.
We've encountered the same problem with the C813 today. Our daugther used it yesterday to take photos of her science project. She turned it on today to log her project and the screen is black, you can view the menu and previous photos, but it won't show you any thing currently on the LCD screen; when you take the photo it is black as well.
I was still using my Kodak DX4530 yesterday, it was fine, but when I turned it on this morning the LCD screen was completely black, I can read the text, the menu screen is still working, and I can preview my photos from the memory card. The screen shows nothing, all black, tried to click but that picture that comes out was all black too.
I had the same problem with my z7590 today. From extensive online searching the problem seems to be with the image sensor. If you can see the menu and icons on the screen and old pictures will still show on the screen then the LCD is fine. A post from many people with Nikons with the same problem suggested "smaking the camera top against your knee or elbow" to try to get it to work. I was very skeptical but several people said it worked for them. I figured I'm not out anything since the camera was no longer under warranty and it would be cheaper to buy a new one then pay to repair, so I tried it and it worked. According to the other forum the fix may only be temporary but for now its working fine. Try this at your own risk it did not work for all and some reported tha it caused other problems and they got "lens errors" but if like me you find its more expensive to fix than buy another one its worth a try.
same problem, has black screen. I need help or I want to buy the same camera, does anyone know where I can get one?
yes I have the same black screen problem, where can I buy another DX4530 camera or how do I fix this one?
firedog79's solution worked for me. Two sharp smacks on my desk worked. Kodak Easyshare Z612, still going. ;)
