I can still hear alerts but I can't hear anything else...

When I have an alert on my laptop such as new messages I can still hear the sound but when I try to play music or watch a movie no sound will come out.

Surely a problem of sound card drivers scan your laptp for driver upgrade u will surely sort it out.

tip

the samsung sync is a pretty good phone with many options of customization available. problem is, most are hidden. heres how to access them:

1. open phone, and push the side key under the memory card slot. [alternatively, just get to the PROFILE option. in that case, skip 2]

2. scroll over to the 'PROFILE' setting

3. highlight the 'NORMAL' setting, and push the 'OPTIONS' key.

4. go to 'EDIT'. push 'CALL ALERT' and you get a wealth of options.

How to change message tone

You can try two different approach to change the message alert tone:

1) Go to menu display and light and press for widget

2) Tick sound settings box and click out to main screen.

3) pull across the little tap at the side of the screen and press the phone icon.

4)At the top right hand side click the little box and scroll down to New message

5) You will see a box containing Message alert type and another box with Message alert tone.

6) Just select a tone or go search for one by selecting sounds.

Go to profiles
Select new messages from the drop down list on the top right corner,
Select message alert tone, choose sounds go to gallery and then
select the tone that you want to set as message alert

How to change Message Alert tone

The msg alert tone depends on the current sound profile of your phone (like normal, silent, driving etc).
1. Go to main menu -> settings -> phone profiles. You should find all the profiles available in the phone. For example, we will change the msg alert tone for 'normal'.
2. Tap on the box with the double arrow (>>) symbol next to normal. You should enter a screen saying call alert type, voice call ringtone etc.
3. There is a drop down menu at the top right side of the screen. Tap that and select 'new messages'.
4. 'message alert type' should be melody or vibration & melody, depending on your preference.
5. now select 'message alert tone'. The phone has a number of tones already stored. Select one of these.
6. Or select 'sounds' at bottom right and browse to any file you want to set as message alert tone instead..
7. Save and exit !!

Is yahoo have a mail alert sign or alarm.

Yes, Yahoo messenger does have alerts. You can mange your alerts when you are logged in Yahoo messenger by clicking on the "Messenger" menu and clicking "Preferences". Alternatively, you can press Ctrl + Shift + P. When you are in "Preferences" window, click on "Alerts & Sounds." You can enable or disable alerts. See the screenshot given here for further information.

Each time i got yahoo mail, my yahoo messenger pops up. i don't need it

Open Yahoo! Messenger
Click Messenger --> Preferences or CTRL+Shift+P
Under category click Alerts and Sounds
In the "Alert me when" box click "I receive email in Yahoo! Mail"
Uncheck the boxes next to "Displaying a dialog box", "Showing an icon in the system tray" and "Showing a message in the bottom right corner of my screen". If you prefer not hear the pow alert as well uncheck "Playing a sound..."
Click OK and you're done.

So as not to leave you in the dark, let's also define these three options:
"Displaying a dialog box" is the Windows dialog box that pops up notifying you of new mail. "Showing an icon in the system tray" is the envelope that appears when new mail arrives. "Showing a message in the bottom right corner of my screen" is the box that comes up giving you the subject of the message or how many emails.
Additionally, you can customize all your alerts in a very similar manner: Select the alert you want to change then check or uncheck the boxes as desired. You can even change what sounds you hear.

Start-> Run-> CMD->Msconfig-> Start up tab-> Uncheck Yahoo Messenger-> Apply-> Close-> Restart the computer.

All you need to do is to scroll to settings on your phone then you go to tone settings,from there you go to Message alert tones and check if your message alert tone is off.if it is off then you have to select a tone then you can start hearing the sound when you receive text message.

When new messages arrive, you can choose to have your
phone notify you by playing an audible alert. To hear an alert when you receive a new message:
1. Press Menu > Settings/Tools > Settings > Messaging >
Message Reminder.
2. Select On or Off and press .
