There is a sub-board in this set that powers the convergence circuit. Often a big Ic shorts, two diodes and finally the main fuse. not something you can fix yourself.
I have the same problem. I had someone come look at it and he showed me the problem but a terrible price, so i didnt have it fixed. The reason the light blinks is there is a problem and the safety mech is kicked in which shuts the TV off. If you take the back of the TV off, about 15 screws, you will see right in the front on the left side a part shaped like the letter "C". The number on top of mine is S5 19 2. That is the part that needs to be replaced. Now to find the part on the internet and figure out how to change it out. any suggestions?
Does the power indicator blink? If so let me know how many blinks it blinks. Respond to this post so I have a way of keeping your symptoms and model number available for furture responses.
if this problem happens after such aive mins and it is consistently giving that same problem to every time the set is turned on then it is a cold solder in your circuit of the video.if it gives that problem on start up ten the video amp and related circuit should be checked.have a tech check your tv.good luck.
I took my TV apart and solved the problem on my own. For those of you that have basic electrical skills and can solder it is an easy fix that only takes about one hour. I removed the rear cover and pulled the left side board which houses the flyback transformer, easily identifiable by the big orande wire coming off of the top. If one looks carfully the soulder connection will probably be broken or loose which can be caused by movement or heat. I resoldered all of the connections for the transformer about 12 and the grounding wire to the left, a single black wire that plugs into the board. Once this was done I put ti all back together again and no problems since!
