You may hard to do a factory reset and then reset all your info. You can reset your router by finding a small hole on the back side of the router, then using the tip of a paperclip, push into the hole while the power is on and hold or 10 seconds and this will reset to factory out of the box settings.

SOURCE: how to change router default name and password

you can't change the default name...that is always left blank, but you can change the password.

Access the user interface & click on Administration.  It should automatically be in the Management section at this point.

Enter your desired password in the Router Password field.
Re-enter to confirm the password in the next field.

Click on Save Settings.

For more information on working with your router, you can access the User Guide provided by LinkSys:

SOURCE: I can't change my wireless

Try admin, admin. If no success, go to D-link and download manual, press reset button on the router for 30 sec. And reset the settings, remember to change and record: system id, access password, wireless security, wireless password.

Testimonial: "Great advice, worked in 3 seconds, many thanks!"

If you can't remember the password, follow these directions to reset the access point to factory default. You can then log in with a username of admin and a blank password.

I looked on line to get a password, but it won't accept it. I have an I pad that works everywhere else.

Reset your router back to it's factory settings by holding the reset button for about 5 seconds. I have provided a list of the most popular router brands. If it does not work you may need to google what your specific model's default IP address/default username/default passwords are, for example search for "Encore ENHWI-2AN3 default IP address" The default login info can change, it can depend on where you obtained your router. If you purchased it yourself from a store then the standard defaults should work. If you obtained your router from your Internet Provider you may need to contact your service provider. It also may depend whether it's an old or new model router as well. And you may need to press and hold the reset button on your router several times before it actually clears. Make sure you have a wired connection then once you have accessed your router simply run the Setup Wizard. Set your SSID as something you'll remember like "Mavericks Network" and your Password can be something like your phone number for example 3109876543

Hi,
First try with the default setting for your router.
Default IP Address :- 192.168.0.50
Default admin username :- admin
Default admin password : Don't enter anything keep it blank.

If this will not work then you have to reset your router.

When i type in the router network ip address http://192.168.0.1 the box opens and i type in admin for username and leave the password blank it just clear's everything and ask for username and password...

Type "user" for the username instead of "admin" & leave the password blank. This should work.

I changed my admin password and since then, Dlink dir655 does not take any passwrods. I Reset the router but it does not recover. My network with DIR655 is down. What should I do? It is second bad...

When Dlink resets it goes back to the default password and login which is something like: Admin in the user part leaving the password blank.

So, goto the default the ip address should be set to 192.168.0.1.

and just enter Admin in the user name. It is case sensative, capitalize the A.

If this does not work, make sure you are holding the reset button down long enough for it to reset. Unplug the router for 20 seconds and plug it back in.
