Panasonic NV-GS250 won't turn on

My NV-GS250 camera will no longer turn on - no sounds, no red light, can't get the DV tape out as it doesn't seem to have power. I've tried using the mains power adapter so it's not a battery problem. Also tested the battery output. There was a bit of a rattle inside the camera like something had come loose and was moving around. I opened the camera up (a little bit - far too complex for me) and a small screw fell out (that had been loose on the inside). Do these cameras have a spare screw stored somewhere in them? I can't imagine one working loose. That's beside the point, I guess. Has anyone taken one of these apart and can tell me where to look to find a break in the power circuit? I don't believe the switch is the problem, by the way, as the switch doesn't need to be on to open the tape compartment. There was no major trauma to the camera for this to occur. It hadn't been dropped or anything. Cheers

There is a reset button behind the view screen.
It has no effect though. As stated above, I don't think the camera is getting any power at all as the tape won't even eject - this doesn't require the camera to be turned on.

No spare screws, ever! look for a small pinhole through which to push a pin to reset the device with batteries in.

How do I switch off the audio on the Panasonic NV-GS250 so I can record video footage with no sound.

I think this camera has manual audio control.
Use the menu system and set the audio to manual then turn down the audio completely.
Another option is to place a microphone jack into the external mic socket without a mic attached. This will mute the onboard mic.

MY PANASONIC CAM RECORDER STOPPED WORKING BECAUSE

The tape will be badly damaged if trapped in camera, this always happens when the camera has got dirty heads and capstan rollers, some times the door wont open if this happens, but if it does open your local camera shop may get the film out.

I don't see any display in my Panasonic PV-GS250 mini DV.. is it a hardware problem?

Did you solve this? Also, could you be more specific? No video on either the LCD or in the viewfinder? Both when trying to record and when playing back a tape?

NEED HELP

G'day,

I also have the same problem and after almost buying a replacement I thought I would try one time to get it to go.

What I did was start the cam without a tape in it, let it bring up the little red icon indicating no tape inserted, (it hadn't started flashing "PLEASE RE-OPERATE AFTER PUSHING RESET BUTTON" at this stage) then I inserted my tape. Hey presto, it works although for how long I don't know. I'll immediately start burn my tapes to disc while the going is good.

Hope this helps someone

Red light flashes

First go to this link; http://www.panasonic.co.uk/customer-Support/download-centre.asp Type in NV-MX7 in the search box And select the correct version of the NV-MX7 that you have you will be able to download a user manual which will hopefully tell you how to deal with the problem. If you have no luck finding a solution in there then please post back with the model version and I can hopefully help (all the versions have some different fault indication lights) and differences in the tape loading system. Hope this helps - please post back with model details :)
