You state a problem here that is going to need a lot more info before a suggested fix could be provided. is this a new drive you added to your computer or a "factory installed" drive? If a new drive, did it come with "driver files" to be installed into Windows and did you install them? During installation, what questions were you asked and how did you answer them?
By the way, my DVD drive shows up as a "CD Drive" in My Computer too, but it still reads & writes DVDs. Try right clicking on the drive in My Computer, click on "Properties" and then click on the "Hardware" tab. When the hardware screen opens, try clicking on "Troubleshoot" and follow the directions. This might work if you are in Windows XP.

your car is reading errors from different source and the best and most effective way to tackle this is to start by having a diagnosis test on it.It consist of a connection connected to a computer which will then read and allow you to erase/reset or read error codes.Once you get the codes then you know where to start looking.Hope this helps.
THis is a problem that cropped up with windows XP. It happens once in a while, however you may be able to minimize this by making sure your connectors to your devices are on securely. You can also go to the device manager by right cllcking on your "my computer" icon. Go to the hardware tab and chose the device manager. Go to DVD and CD devices and uninstall your device. Restart your computer and it will scan for hardware changes and will probably install your CD/DVD drive back using the driver already in windows. If you can find an updated driver for your CD/DVD device from the Samsung site, you may want to install the new driver.
I hope that you find this information helpful. If I have helped you, please leave that feedback for me.
