Lay your vacuum completely on its back on the floor, like you are going to vacuum under a bed, then turn it over on its "belly", you should be able to see the bottom of the unit, where there are 2 small wheels ..... look where embedded in the plastic are #'s 1-4 there are 4 screw pockets, 2 in front and 2 in rear, those are deep, so you need a phillips screwdriver with a long skinny barrel to get in the deep pocket.remove those 4 screws, stand the unit upright, then grasp both sides of the "hood" of the unit remove the the plastic cover, you should see the belt on the right side as you face the vacuum. If the belt is broken, just pull up on the brushroll , removing it from the base. Clean any hair, thread, etc.. from the brushes, and ends , place new belt over the motor shaft (looks like a nail sticking out toward the back of the belt area) slide the brushroll through the other loop of belt in the belt groove, then slide the stop sign shaped end pieces in the grooves in base , pressing down until it is seated in place, gently turn the brushroll with fingers watching the belt making sure it is staying straight , then place the hood of vacuum back in place, make sure it fits correctly, recline handle again all the way down, roll vacuum over again to place screws back in bottom of unit.

I have a Eureka Capture and it works fine for 5 minutes then I smell some burning. Is this the belt?

It could be, open up the cover (there are two screws on the top) and then check the belt, and check the brush to see if anything is rubbing on the belt. If the belt seems fine then your problem is somewhere else.

I have a eureka altima bagless and it wont pick up dirt i clean it and everything it just wont work

The belt is probably worn, stretched or broken that is why it is not picking up. Here is a link to the owners manual which has instructions and a link to the belt you need.

Not sucing

The reason it is not picking up is probably because the belt is stretched, worn or broken and is not turning the brush the way it should and therefore not picking anything up. You should change the belt on your model at least once a year. Here is a link to the belt you need and a link to the owners manual which has belt changing instructions:

Belt change for eureka capture

Lie the vacuum down so it's completely flat, the back of it facing up. On the bottom of it, on the grey plastic, there are instructions. They say, to access the belt, remove the screws numbered 1, 2, 3 & 4. Then look at the four corners of the bottom of the vacuum and you'll see these numbers. You may need a flashlight to actually see the screws because a couple of them are pretty deep inside the plastic. Loosen them with a long shafted, Phillips screwdriver. Stand the vacuum back up and the screws should just fall out. Then you can easily pop off the cover to change the belt.
