First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

Had to reset to factory rest and windows will not start. How do I get it to restart.

Prerequisite to make a disk: the second computer must have the same operating system (e.g. Windows 7).
When I look at my laptop (German) I find the accessory program under "Start - Maintenance - Create system repair disk" (may be the translation is different). Then create the disk.
In the computer to fix it's possible (depending on computer), you have to change the boot sequence. During booting press "F2" and you go into the boot menu. Make sure, the first boot source is the CD drive. Then insert the disk and try to start up.

There is something wrong with your hard drive.. It is not being recognized by your bios. Could be a bad logic board. Get appropriate software and perform diagnostics on it to confirm

This message comes up after I turn on my laptop and it is trying to start up "no bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key" How can I fix this problem? Thanks.

the hardisk cannot be detected. On system bios... press"del" to enter bios,(on other computer its "F2") ..on the BOOT tab check who is the first booting device. set hardisk (ide) as your first booting device by pressing"+" sign. On the bios you can also check if hardisk is detected, if not then your hardisk crashed.. need to replace it.

My acer ZG5 does not start up there is a black screen and a message stating that there is no bootable device and to insert boot disk and press any key; I don't have a boot disk so how can I fix my problem....

The bootable device is your laptop's hard drive. This meesage usually appears when the hard drive has crashed or the Master Boot record is damaged. you can repair this if you see message that gives you an option to recover your hard drive, try turning off then turning on the laptop to see the option appear during the boot process. But the catch here is that you might not recover your personal files after the recovery. If you have important files in your Hard drive bring the laptop to a qualified technician to recover your files.
