Re: my brothers i-mate sp5
When you replace a new LCD but still didn't see anything but a white bright screen then you must know the problem is the LCD Cable which connects between main board to LCD. That cable is bad. You need to replace it and check all connection around the LCD and Main board. The blanks screen shows power is drawn to but no interface handshake has been made. when a signal is not been transfer, cable is the main issue. Hope it help.

The first thing I would try is to fix the corona wire. Here is a link to Brother's website outlining the process (clean corona wire). What you need to do is pull out the drum and look for a blue tab on the top of the cartridge. Slide that tab back and forth along the wire and see if that clears things up. I have had some luck cleaning the drum when I get black streaks but I have also hear this can be dangerous and make the problem worse.
Bought a 2150 in 2007. In 2008 toner light came on. Bought a new toner cartridge and installed. Light would not go off. Called Brother. They had us do the following:
1) Turn power off
2) Open front cover
3) Press white button (left side) 2 times and hold
4) Turn power on
5) Press white button 6 times and hold. All 3 lights should come on.
6) Close cover
7) Press blue button 3 times. Should print demo page.
We took the new cartridge out and saved it. The original is still working fine.
That machine needs constant cleaning, you slide out the toner drawer and one at a time remove each toner, open the frosted plastic flap below and slide the wiper back and forth about 10 times to clean the corona. You could also have a bad magenta cartridge which Brother will replace for 90 days from date of purchase.
