Have kicker kx600.1 and protection light comes on when i turn the radio up , i can turn gain down and seems like it will let me turn the radio up a little more but when the bass hits the amp goes into protection then it will go back to green and stay that way as long as i have volume turned down. have a 14g power wire and short ground drilled into the trunk with washer polished the area.

SOURCE: my kicker amp turns off

It sounds like you may have the load impedance too low. How many voice coils per woofer? How many ohms is each coil? If you have DVC woofers, are the coils for each woofer wired in series or parallel? Are the speakers wired in series or parallel. Let me know if you need me to clarify anything.

SOURCE: Why is my Kicker 08zx650.4 amp turning off in my 98 Deville??

ive been hearing alot of this going on yes you had youre system proffesionaly installed but youre amp is pushing at all its got it must be pushing at 1ohms capacity loud but what you dont realize is that.. do ur home work first some amps say they can handle the power but if you read carefully it would read not stable look up amp on the net before buyin review them first ...but evrything youve got is correct its youre amp it wont burn out but you wont get continous power to ur spkrs ..i recomend installing one amp on each spkr same brand if you prefer in keeping it with a crossover if you dont have one that way they wont over heat and cutt off and you will use less power and get more bass...

Disconnect all the wires except the three main power wires, ground, 12v battery and remote. Now, turn on your radio, if the protect light is still on then there's an internal short in the amp. If the light turns green, then there's a short in either the auxiliary cables or the speaker outs. If it turns green, then troubleshoot the other wires that plug into the amp by connecting them one at a time until the protect light comes on, which will tell you that there's a problem with that speaker/aux wire.

I have a pair of kicker cvr 124 with a kole 1500 watt amp that is bridged to the woofers. the amp is 385 rms at 2 ohms where should the gain be to get the most power without distortion.

When setting your gain you want to set the gain high usually between 75% to 95%. if the gain is low than turning up the volume on your radio will only amplify the distortion coming from the under powered head unit. By turning up the gain you are maximizing the signal that is amplified coming from your head unit

The amplifier light keeps turning off, then on which leaves me with no power for my subwoofer. This usually happens when I turn up the music in my car. The base would go away, then come back constantly...

Hi,

This problem is due to over powering the speaker. Amps have built in protection for both themselves and the speakers they are connected to. If you have the gain turned up too far on the amp, it can cause the amp to go into protection mode which will turn the amp off temporarily. You have probably noticed the speakers make odd noises or sound awful just before the amp turns off. Other issues may be that you have a bad ground connection to the amp. Check this connection at the amp and at the location the amp is grounded to. Follow the "-" or "GND" cable from the amp. if that connection is good, just turn down the "gain" dial on the amp about 1/4 and turn up the volume and see what happens.

Green light comes on but no output? is there an easy solution to this without taking it to get it repaired?

You got the gain turned up on the amp, and also check your radio for a sub gain setting as well
