Try downloading the driver from the Compaq/HP WEB site.
You can download the device drivers from the Compaq/HP WEB support/download page. Make sure you select your model laptop and the Windows drivers you require and install them. Click on this link to download the drivers: -

Operating system not found

The error PXE-E61: Media test failure usually means the hard disk has failed or the hard disk needs re-seating or the disk controller is faulty. First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

Problem in startup

The error PXE-E61: Media test failure usually means the hard disk has failed or the hard disk needs re-seating or the disk controller is faulty.
First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If this does not work then reboot and go to the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Next - to determine if the hard drive is faulty, remove the hard drive and insert it into an USB hard drive adapter and connect it to a working computer's USB port. If this computer cannot see it as an external hard drive and you cannot open the various folders and files, this confirms the hard drive is faulty.
The hard drive needs to be replaces in the laptop and Windows installed and the laptop's device drivers and your programs etc to get a working laptop again.

Master Software 2 help!

Ditto. Installing on XP w/SP1. Plenty of hard drive space. Pentium 4 w/2GB RAM. Tried different drives. Tried copying CD-ROM to hard drive to verify it was reading of the CD ok. No problem copying but still failing on installation. I also tried by-passing the initial Olympus menu and launching the .msi directly, but that fails in the same way. I haven't found anything on the Olympus website about this, but note their website generates tons of Javascript errors which is not encouraging with respect to Olympus's attention to quality. (This is my first and probably last Olympus.)

Tried pulling the XD media and reading it on the computer but my computer wanted to format the thing (never seen that with SD or Compact Flash, what gives?) so that was a no for the moment.

Finally, I went to the files that I had copied from the CD to my hard drive and double-clicked the OM2_Pack_Framework_2_0_4.cab file found in the OLYMPUS\OLYMPUS Master 2 directory. That contains a bunch of .cab files, that I extracted to another directory. In there, I found a application.cab, which I then extracted to yet another directory. In there, I found OLYMPUS Master.exe. That ran fine when I double clicked on it, but I still had the problem of not being able to read the XD directly, so I hooked the USB up to the camera with the XD back in the camera and was able to transfer the images in that manner.
