Question about Sears Craftsman LiftMaster Chamberlain Garage Door Opener Wireless Keypad Model 976LM Security+

Open Question

Craftsman 315 MHz Security+ Universal Remote Conversion Kit Model 139

This conversion kit wires in a new controller to the garage door opener, and includes a remote with a preset code. I took it out of the package and installed it. It worked right away. THE PROBLEM - After I successfully added a second remote, using the pairing instructions (Skylink G5), the original remote didn't work any more, and won't pair.

The radio frequency has been changed so the two are not compatible.

On the back of the motor unit near where all those white wires go you will find a button. Press and immediately release that and then walk over to your keypad and enter a four digit code of your choice and press enter. You should be good to go.

The remotes you have are on a different radio frequency. They will not work.

The 953EV/EVC remote is designed to work with garage door openers at 315MHz (more or less). Your older unit doesn't work at that frequency. I'm not positive but it could be 300MHz.

You need a retrofit unit to use the new remote. See https://aclickawayremotes.com/Liftmaster/355LM-2-315-Mhz-Garage-Door-Opener-Conversion-Kit/index.html for one that works with Chamberlain units.

I hope this helps.

Post the model number of your opener. It is on the end of the motor unit nearest the door. It starts with 139. Also post the model number of your new remote. It should also start with 139.

Check for some obstacle in the path of the light beam sensor that (should) be installed across the width of the door opening about 3-4 inches off the ground.

The conversion kit you purchased from Sears will work with any door opener and has the latest security feature but the bad news is your keypad will not work with it. If you want a keypad you must make sure it is 315 mhz and Security +. It would be Sears latest model.
