I have a whirlpool GW395 gas stove with a problem. When you first turn it on it lights, it will stay lit for about 45 seconds then the burner will go off , after you let it set for about 45 seconds it will re-light, it continues this vicious cycle over and over. If I hold in the locking mechanism (self cleaning) the burner stays lit. Also the burners on top work. Any ideas? Thanks Joe

The usual problem with these ovens is the oven burner itself. the burner will click 3 times and usually lights but after a few minutes shuts down and will no light again until you reset the control. If this is happening then try replacing the oven burner. It comes as one unit the burner assembly and electrode. Part # 8191123. If this doesn't work then it coould be your spark module unit. This is about twice the cost or more.

SOURCE: whirlpool electric range burner power light stays on but no heat

Hello givemeanidth.
Welcome to Fixya

You said, have a Whirlpool electric range (model rf363pxpt0) with standalone burners - the burner power indicator light stays lit whether the heat control knob is on or off, there is no heat coming from the burner on or off. You pulled the burner from the receptacle and one of the tabs broke off and stayed in the receptacle. You removed the tab and made sure no pieces remained in the receptacle then bought a replacement burner, no change. You put the replacement burner in the back burner of the same size and had heat within 10 seconds. You changed out the burner with the one that had been in the back of the range, no heat. As long as the breaker to the range is on the power light stays lit but no power to that one burner only.

What is the model number and the age of your range?

Waiting for your reply.

SOURCE: Whirlpool 465 Gas Stove conversion from propane to gas?

In most cases the orifices can be removed and reversed to convert from lp to natural gas. Sometimes you will need a conversion kit and you will need to look this up by model number. 465 is the oven capacity not the model number. You can locate the model number by pulling the drawer out and looking behind it. Please let me know the model and I can let you know what kit you need. Also I should let you know that your gas company is the most qualified to convert your range, and this conversion should not be attempted by anyone who is not qualified. If this conversion is not completed properly you could be risking your life and the lives of everyone in your home, so make sure you know what you are doing!! Or get a qualified person. Good luck and please be careful making any changes to your gas appliances. Please dont forget to rate me also.

SOURCE: Whirlpool Super Capacity 465

I have the same problem intermittently on my Super Cap 465. After reading the following quote from another site, "There have been cases where radio waves, electronic signals and sometimes something as strange as dimmers in lights have caused some weird problems with some computer panels in stoves like these", I tries turning off lights that might be on the same circuit and wouldn't you know it, the oven igniter circuit worked.

Whirlpool WFG510S0AS2 range - stove burners work just fine, but both the oven and broiler does not stay lit. NOTE - this unit has been converted from natural gas to LP

when the lp conversion is done , it is normally just a jet size change that is done
however the air shroud has to also be adjusted to get a clean blue burn of the flame
The just jet change results in a slightly yellow flame which is incomplete burn of the gas and that creates carbon build up at the jet and burners causing partial blockage
I would suggest that you call in an accredited gas fitter to check the problem and if necessary , clean the jets and adjust the air shroud

WHIRLPOOL Sup Cap 465 oven turns on for 3 sec, then shuts off

The flame sensor is dirty or bad.

When the unit does not sense flame after ignition, the gas valve shuts down the system.

They can become corroded or dirty, but usually just need to be replaced.

Contact whirlpool for warranty info. If the unit is under warranty, they should send you the parts for free. If not, they can direct you in how to order the part.
