Need driver for panasonic PV-GS70D mini dv for mac

The Panasonic PV-GS35 will let you record digital media to the mini DV cassette if the other video source has a DV input/output connection. Then you use the 4-pin to 4-pin Firewire DV cable, PV-DDC9 . This cable is available from Amazon, https://www.amazon.com/LETO-FireWire-Panasonic-Camcorder-PV-DDC9/dp/B00MLQVMSK , and other vendors. The digital camera doesn't have the S-video input needed to record from most other sources.

This type of camera usually downloads video over a Firewire (DV, IEEE1394) connection. Some mini-DV cameras have a USB connection but it is used only for stills.

Most PCs have a USB port, but no Firewire port. Macs often have a Firewire port but may not have USB. As most Windows PCs do not come with this interface, you might need to fit an add-on Firewire interface card. This will come with a driver for the card. As you have a MAC, you may already have a port.

Suitable Firewire (DV) cables can easily be found on Amazon or eBay. You will need the kind with a small (four pin) connector at one end and a larger (six pin) connector at the other. My Samsung mini-DV camera came with the correct lead. I did not need a driver, just some sort of video editing software that can accept input. Even Windows Movie Maker that ships with Windows will work.

i have a panasonic. its not the same kind as yours but i was trying to use it as a webcam as well and had the same issue. i read the manuel and it said that it goes in auto standby if its on pause for more than 5 minutes. so i figured id just take the tape out. its not on pause so it wont stand by. i didnt think it would make a difference. but it did. i can use it as a webcam now. hope this helps
