Dell D610 doesn't start at all

Dell D610 - Indicator lights shows there is power going to the laptop - But when I go to turn it on all the lights go on for about 5 seconds and then they all shut off - Even the light that indicates whether or not there is power going to the laptops battery or not. Does any one know how to fix this? I just got this yesterday from a computer shop. The fan is clean, the ram is good I saw the guy put it in out of a plastic casing. So any ideas would be great..

Well, It's working now - It wouldn't turn on but after being unplugged for about 16 hours it started up this morning as if nothing was wrong..

  • Anonymous Dec 03, 2012

Scratch what I said - It will start after it's been off for about a day - And then when it's on and it shuts down it will stay off till like the next afternoon or something like that..

SOURCE: My compaq presario v6000 laptop does not power at

Your problem sounds like the same thing I had. My solution was to do a power drain, and this came from HP support. You should disconnect power, and remove your battery, then hold down the power button on your computer for about two minutes. This will drain all residual power. After that you can plug in power and it should start, if the problem is the same as mine was. Then replace your battery and charge.

Hope it works for you.

Have dell d610 battery light flashes 4 times red then one green, can't unplug

I would take note of the message you are getting and buy a new battery. I believe the red flashing lights mean that one or more of the cells in the battery are dying, and it's best not to turn off alarm lights like these. Did the battery hold charge for a longer period than one hour before you started to see the flashing light warning?

Hi I have a dell d610 and whenever I power it up it gives me the following message: '' MANUFACTURING MODE: LEVEL '67''' ''PRESS FN - X TO RETURN THE SYSTEM TO NORMAL...

Follow the instructions on screen in order to return to normal mode. Safest thing I would advice yo do is, back up all your important data from the hard drive onto an external hard drive and reset your notebook. this will remove the error message from your notebook. If you are able to, you should take your notebook to a qualified IT technician. I hope this helps you.

This is a freebie
The system is not booting to the hard drive, the #9 indicator is an indication that the number lock is enabled.
Try holding the Fn key while powering on the system, see if diagnostics run (The works on newer Dells, not sure about the D610) If you don't have that function, if you have the resource cd, try and boot to it and run diagnostics.
Generally, the issue you describe is a problem with the hard drive, if it passes diagnostics, then see if you can repair the windows install booting to the XP Cd

Toshiba Satellite laptop will not boot. Shows power from outlet and battery but no indicator light is present for the last two in the five light sequence.

Its an old trick that got my Dell laptop working
Unplug the laptop remove the battery press the power button,...nothing will happen, wait a few seconds put battery back in laptop plug it in hold upside down press power button until it boots
If that doesn't work it could be a bad/loose/dead bios battery What is the model of the laptop?

Dell d610 wont turn on ac adapter light is green

There is a small IC that Dell solders into their power supply as well as their batteries. When this parts fails you will have the type of problem you are having now. If you do a search on the web you will find a large number o sites that discuss this. Unfortunately there is no fix other than replacing your power supply. I had to do the same thing myself for the Dell laptop I use.

My Dell Laptop D610 wont turn on. It was on, I

Turn off laptop, Remove the battery and the power cable and press the power button for about 30 seconds.

Check for light on AC adapter.
Try with battery alone. Try with AC adapter alone.

Try with a different adapter of the same kind.

else the issue could be with the main board for which I would request you to contact the manufacturer.

Dell latidue D610

The light indicator for the battery is; green-charging, yellow-battery failure, and red-charging system failure. The charging system failure happens when the power management chip fails. The pm chip regulates and controls the power input & usage, allows the machine to switch from AC to battery, and cotrols the charging. This will also cause the problem with the power button not workin or being hard to start. Unfortunately, the motherboard will have to be replaced in order to fix this.
