SOURCE: Gas dyer won't start, have to kick start it.

If your bearing, glides, and idler are all fine then your motor is gone.
You could apply some zoomoil to that motor but you will have to drill some access holes as the manufacturer does not provide any. For $150 bucks a pop I would try a $2 bottle of High temp zoomoil from ace hardware first.Use a 1/6th inch drill bit and do not hit the shaft. The bearing wells are on either side of the motor and you will have to take the drum out to get to the motor. To access the dryer innards open the door and remove the screws holding down the top. Get the top out yer way and remove the front. Get the drum out and clean out the dryer. Send me any folding money you find. LOL You may find enough change in the dryer to buy some oil. Zoomoil is use for HVAC. It is heat resistant and does not disapate. After filling each bearing work the motor by hand till it loosens up. Oil the idler check the slides and the rear bearing for wear.743d531.jpg

SOURCE: TRY TO START DYER AND IT JUST HUMS

The belt may have broken, otherwise you have to use a multimeter to troubleshoot the problem.

SOURCE: The dryer drum will not turn, even manually with the belt removed

Sounds like something became wedged against the drum. Maybe a bearing?

SOURCE: dryer belt is new the drum turn when empty but not with a load of clothes with two or four pieces of clothes it will turn and sometimes pauce between turns

You need to check to see if something is caught in the blower or the motor and keeping it from turning.

My hair dyer sometimes blows hot air but sometimes it doesnt

It's possible that you simply need to give it enough time turned on so that the heating element can heat up.

Dyer really hot, not drying clothes

Is the dryer tumbling? If not, you may have a broken belt or some other drive assembly issue.

Also, turn the dryer on and go outside to the vent discharge - you should feel air coming out at a pretty good clip. If not, the vent line is obstructed and will need to be cleaned out.

Drum not turning-very loud sound coming frm dryer when turned on

There could be multiple problems with you whirlpool dyer depending on the type of noise you are hearing. If the noise is a low grumble or loud buzzing sound this could indicate a bad motor. Which could explain you not hearing the drum turning. If however you hear a grating or grinding type noise but the drum is turning, this could indicate that something is rubbing or has become jammed inside the blower fan that circulates the air. if this is the case it too may have to be replaced. Also the drum can sometime come off the drum support rollers at the back of the dryer, but this is very uncommon, and only happens if they are very worn or broken. This can easily be diagnosed by a technician and if the motor is fine, will cost little to repair.Hope this helps.

Thanks

I have a Kenmore gas dyer that has developed a burning smell

check vent line, either check outside to see if flapper is blowing open or disconnect vent line from back of dryer and see if it helps.if not there are two thermostats Number: 660036 Substitution: 279048 and
Number: 3387134 ,this one is on blower wheel housing and the other is in the back, take back wall off and you'll see it on right hand side on heater vent duct

My dyer heats and tumbles, but doesn't dry

I'd check first for clogged vent hose or clogged lint filter or clogged vent flap on wall (outside).

If that's not a problem, it may be a faulty thermostat. Heating element is probably okay if it heats some of the time.

More info, let me know.
