My seat won't connect, I took it apart to give my sister the booster part only, but now I can not connect the top part back to the seat, it won't fit into the grooves, is there a second part that connects it??

Hi I'm not sure if you've fixed your car seat but I'm a nanny and broke the car seat exactly the same way, took it out the car and that was it. It took me ages but you need to tip the base and put the back on the wrong way so imagine it as an L when it together take the back of and tilt the base onto where the child's legs hang. Then take the hooks on the back with the head rest facing up and slide it in behind it should just glide in.
The there are two connectors that communicate between the two circuit boards in the 9000 - one short one at the top and one long one at the bottom. The short one has come lose. Take apart the unit by removing the 4 screws in the back and the cover will pop off. Remove the disk by sliding it down and lift it out. Press down on the top of the circuit board and re-seat the top connector ensuring that there is no space between the male and female connectors. That should fix the problem. It took me years to find the solution. A tech at Wolverine told me to check the connectors, especially the top and finally I did and it works fine now. If it keeps popping out you can use a piece of plastic to help wedge the board down at the top to make the connection tight.
This car seat does not convert to a booster. It becomes a "Belt-positioning booster". The back and headrest remain while using as a booster. You remove the 5-point harness and use the car's shoulder strap seat belt.
The belt positioning is done by the plastic parts at the top on either side of the seat.

if you call Saftey first at (800) 544-1108 they can most likley sell you a new seat cover for it. They will not tell me availabilty or price without more info.
PS I just took my car seat apart to wash the cloth material and found the easiest way to reassemble it was to remove the base during install of the straps and then replace the base.
