If it is hooked up with componant, thats the red blue green cables for video, and red white for audio, then you probabily eather dont have the red pluged all the way in, or you have the red audio, and red video---reversed, make sure to check them on the dvd player, and on the tv, if there correct, try using the composit input, that is the yellow red and white

Dvd player only plays in b&w, and connectors dont seem to match up with tv

Go into the player's setup menu and make sure it's set for the kind of connection you're actually using (component, S-video, composite). Also make sure the connections are pushed "all-the-way-in" Lose connections can cause B&W picture.

Grundig plasma

There is probably a fault in the video processor, or there is a setting for the user colour temperature that is not properly set. Call the authorized service for advice on how to proceed.

Picture only shows in black & white when playing DVD

Same problem with an older JVC player. One end of the S-video cable was loose. Pushed in in tight and everything ok again. Cheap fix if it works for you.

Black Screen

Ok, this is probably what has happened, you say that you have played games on your tv, well the thing is with HD and Plasma Screen tv's is that when you play Hi-Res games on them the games backdrop will burn itself into the screen, causing the screen to turn dark and not reveal the correct picture it should. People need to learn about this!!!!! Playing games on HD and Plasma tv's will screw up your resolution!!!
