Question about Samsung HLN567W 56" Rear Projection HDTV

1 Answer

Samsung HLN567W My TV keeps turning itself on and off. I called a recommended TV repair company. THey took the TV away and said that it needs a new lamp (that's expected), but it also needs some kind of board? They want to charge me $450 after I have already paid them $65 to just check it out. Is this worth it or should I look into a new one? Thanks

That depends... If the cabinet is in good shape and you're otherwise happy with the unit obviously YES it's worth it... But let me preface that with these thoughts. What board is it that they want to replace? Get a part number from them before you make your decision... Was the Lamp out and that's why it needed to be replaced? How much did they charge for the lamp? Lamps are not cheap items by themselves. For that unit I found that Herman/Panson has about the best price. And last time I checked they wanted about $159.00 for the lamp that fits this unit. After you get the part number for the board goto Vance Baldwin http://www.vancebaldwin.com/ logon as a guest and select parts search on the left. Enter the part number and see what price comes up and you do the math with what they're charging... Remember that price is just to buy it not ship it too so they might be bit higher... If it's more than double the answers easy, tell them you'll supply the board and order it... That way you'll be a little more at ease with the repair. And again, yes I think it's probably worth repairing considering the above. Good Luck Bill

Samsung model ln52a750r1fxza start to power up chimes and then clicks off then repeats itself - unpluged and pluged back in just repeats without me doing a thing.

Had a similar issue with my set LNT 4061FX/XAA. After doing some research on line I found that Samsung company had an issue with some capacitors. There is a group action law suit. I found that my set was included. Called Samsung and they were extremely nice and helpful. They called a local repair shop, gave them a invoice charge #, and the repair shop ordered parts needed for me. I took TV to them (althought I was offered home repair), and my TV was fixed for "FREE"!!! Got it back and working better than it had in years!!!!! Thank you Samsung!!!!

Have Samsung HLN567W and recently started having

Projection TV sets have two very common problems listed below.

Problem #1) Convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

TV turns off..lamp light flashs

I have one of these. It sounds like your projection light bulb has burned out & it needs to be replaced. Last time I checked (2 years ago), they were about $200. They are not hard to change if you are handy. Follow the directions, do NOT touch the bulb with your bare hands, use gloves or the oil from your hand will cause it to burn out prematurely. If you are not handy, call for a repair person.

Samsung tv hln567w

This was a $4000 TV 5 years ago. I own one, and it is still a very good TV. The biggest thing that can go wrong (and is worth repairing) is the light bulb can go out & it costs about $200 to replace. If anything else major goes out, it is probable better replaced than repaired.

My tv keeps turning off by itself

You need the bulb repleaced in the back of the t.v. You need to call your retailer to find out which company they use and or if you have a warranty they can replace it for free.
