Samsung HLN567W My TV keeps turning itself on and off. I called a recommended TV repair company. THey took the TV away and said that it needs a new lamp (that's expected), but it also needs some kind of board? They want to charge me $450 after I have already paid them $65 to just check it out. Is this worth it or should I look into a new one? Thanks

That depends... If the cabinet is in good shape and you're otherwise happy with the unit obviously YES it's worth it... But let me preface that with these thoughts. What board is it that they want to replace? Get a part number from them before you make your decision... Was the Lamp out and that's why it needed to be replaced? How much did they charge for the lamp? Lamps are not cheap items by themselves. For that unit I found that Herman/Panson has about the best price. And last time I checked they wanted about $159.00 for the lamp that fits this unit. After you get the part number for the board goto Vance Baldwin http://www.vancebaldwin.com/ logon as a guest and select parts search on the left. Enter the part number and see what price comes up and you do the math with what they're charging... Remember that price is just to buy it not ship it too so they might be bit higher... If it's more than double the answers easy, tell them you'll supply the board and order it... That way you'll be a little more at ease with the repair. And again, yes I think it's probably worth repairing considering the above. Good Luck Bill
