Try unplugging power cord or trip circuit breaker, to cut the power to the appliance, then wait one or towo hours for the oven to cool down completely.
If the door stays locked, then there is a fault, probably a faulty temp probe that had blown because of high temperatures generated on self cleaning, or a defective control assembly. In that case you will need to call a technician to take apart the oven and fix the fault. Enter model number here to find assembly diagrams and parts.
It sounds like you need to replace the door latch assembly. One of the switches on it is not working properly so the control is not getting the correct signal for the door latch position. It could be an oven control problem, but most likely it is the latch. Post back with the complete model number from the oven if you need more help and I will answer as soon as I can. Thanks, Mike
most of the time a simple fix....
you have to trick the door lock mech into cycling through the cleaning process (takes about 20 seconds)
PrintRange - “LOCKED DOOR” flashes in the display
If “LOCKED DOOR” is flashing in the display of your range or oven, and the self-clean cycle has not been selected, follow the steps below to reset your control:
With the door open, locate the door jamb switch on the face of the oven. It will look like a small black post or dowel.
Push it in until the oven cavity light goes off, indicating that the oven believes the door is closed.
While you hold the door jamb switch in this position, complete the following steps.
Press the Clean pad, wait 10 seconds.
When the cycle initiates, press the clear/off or cancel pad immediately to cancel it.
Wait 10 seconds for the display to clear.
The door should unlock and there should not be a need for service.
Press the Clean pad.
Close the door.
Slide the latch to lock the door.
Hit the cancel button immediately.
Unlock the door.
If the above does not correct the situation, a service technician will need to check your cooking product. To obtain in or out of warranty repair on Major Appliances, you may call 1-800-GE-CARES (800-432-2737) or schedule service online.
