Hello everybody, I have a used Acer Travelmate 291LCi notebook. Here's technical specs:
512MB RAM (2x256MB)
15" LCD SXGA+
WiFi Intel PRO/Wireless 2100
20GB HD IBM Travelstar 4200rpm
It has some problems. Sometimes it boots up correctly, and I can use it without problems (I've "tested" it with games sessions playing Rise of Nations and Unreal Tournament, a few days ago I ran for 2 hours Prime95 to stress the CPU), but sometimes it does not boot up fine because the laptop reboots itself continously and the optical drive (Quanta SCR-242 cdrom reader which is hotswappable) makes noise like if somebody connects and disconnects it continously. Sometimes it boots up fine, and after few minutes (2, 5, 10 or 40, it happens without any logic) it reboots continously like previous situation.
I can't recognize the problem, someone could help me?

Download the drivers from the Acer WEB site. Make sure youselect the model of your laptop and the XP or Vista version of the drivers youthat require and it matches the Windows version that is installed on yourlaptop. Use this link to get to the Acer support: - http://www.acersupport.com/drivers_download.aspx
The most likley place for the second ram socket, as with most laptops, is under the keyboard. You can confirm this by going to acers website and downloading the technical manul for this laptop. The CMOS battery would be underneath the board, so replacing it would me completley disassembling the enitire laptop.
