If you have a CD that's not reading the TOC, Table of Contents, most likely, you have a bad optical pickup(laser) It can't play what it can't read. For more information or questions, please visit my website at audioserviceclinic.com. Thank you.
The Optical head or the mother board is defective. The data is not received and so the Mp is not able to read or process.
hence if have cleaned the optical head lens, and there is no reading try to put in a audio cd to test. If the cd is read the head must be Ok and the DVD processing must be faulty possible board issue but if there is no reading then the optica head is faulty
what is happening on the display is the laser reading the disc if its not reading the disc your cd player is faulty more than likely the laser is either dirty or had its day, make sure there is compatible music data on the disc, also check all the sound options on the stereo.
