Every time i go to display settings my phone shuts off
Go into phone settings, then security after putting in your four digit code click on reset default. Your preference settings will be set to factory defaults and your user data will not be erased. DO NOT CLICK ON RESTORE PHONE! That will reset your phone and erase everything such as contacts and pictures.
My phone wasn't allowing me to change display settings either. I went to phone setting, then security and entered last 4 digits of my phone number. I reverted back to factory settings and this did not erase my pictures or contacts :)
I just fixed this problem on my Dare. Go to phone settings and security and type in your last 4 digits then hit restore. It does not erase your pictures and contacts like some peoplr state. At least it didn't on my phone. Anyway my phone is back to normal after this reset.
You have to go touch "menu" then go to "settings&tools" after that go to "phone settings" and touch "security" put the last 4 digits of YOUR number, go to "reset default" and after it has been reset and such it should work.
It worked for me.
We just fixed mine - go to phone settings, security, enter the last four of your phone nbr (unless you've changed it) and reset the entire phone. This WILL completely reset the phone - you will lose contacts, pictures, etc so make sure to use backup asst for your contacts. You will then need to re-program your phone to authenticate it and re-set up all of your settings. Good luck!
I'm having the same problems on my phone. It will fine for the longest time then one day it won't work. I've tried restoring it, but it didn't help. I've have bad luck with LG phones. I will not be getting another LG. Everyone I've had has been junk!
I had the same problem. I went to my local Verizon dealer and they told me it was a problem with the current LG Dare software. They offered to update the software, but it still didn't work. I just got it for X-mas so the 1 year warrenty is still good, as would anybodys. In the end the tech support guy gave me a new phone. He told me to come in a get a new phone if it happens again. Luckly it hasn't happened with my 2nd phone, yet.

i cant change any thing because i have this same problem and it is pissing me off
I have the same problem, tried adding display settings to shortcut menu and it still does it... Would love a fix for this because I bought my phone second-hand and highly doubt verizon will replace...
everrrrrrrrytime i hit display settings my phones shuts down and reboots!!!
I reset to default and it worked so far. (not complete reset where everything is lost, but just default)
My first dare had problems with restarting when i hit the star on the web browser for favorites i took it to the verizon store and they tried the software update but that did not work so they gave me a new phone and i had it for like an hour and that one started messing up the screen on it would hit buttons halfway across the screen when texting and the calibration would only fix it for a few minutes so i called tech support and troubleshooting it did not work so the third one is on the way i hope this one worksÂ
every time i click display settings, the phone turns off and resets itself
Same problem... I noticed my clock wasn't showing on the screen. I went to dispaly settings to see what th problem is, and the phone shut's off and powers up automatically. Verizon says they now nothing about the problem!!! whatever!!!
verizon lg dare phone keeps restarting when I go to display settings
same thing. Â wont show date and time
i had the same problem. l just did what sulotion 3 said and it worked again. I even still had my pics and contacts.
my phone is fully charged with a full battery in the icon on top right hand corner but it will shut off randomly and will not turn on even when i try to remove the battery. the only way to make it turn back on is to plug the charger into it and then it turns on. But it says charge complete!! Then when i unplug the charger it will remain on for an average of 3 to 30 minutes. Then shuts off again! I have had the phone for only 2 months and I have NEVER gotten it wet or dropped it. I went to the verizon store but they told me to come back tomorrow to update the software in the store because it takes more than an hour. I would like to just get my money back and not keep the dare but do they do that?
My phone keeps shutting off randomly. I've gotten a new one, and have taken mine into the store to get "new software" installed but it still does the same thing. Even more obnoxious, every single time I call someone or answer a phone call, the service drops down by half.
When i try to sync my music, it just restarts... it never used to do that before??
same with me. i have no clock on the front and when i go to display settings it shuts off
I am on the third dare ,and it still keeps shutting off, veizon will not return phone , unless it happens in there possesion, which of course it doesnt.
i have returned my phone several times. still have the problem. i was looking at other forums and apparently this is just a problem that verizon and LG seem to be ignoring. the sad thing is that i really like the phone. mine seems to reset when i scroll thru text messages. in fact, it did it in the store four times while i was getting my first replacement. one forum said that they are working on a software update for this, but it still isn't out yet. its very frustrating. friend of mine, same phone...hers reboots when she scrolls thru text messages or uses the favorites side button.
one question, as they told me to restore defualts, when i do that, and then i go and make the background black and change all the setting, do you think it will happen again? i have decided to simply take my phone back everytime i experience the problem and maybe verizon and LG will get the hint.
also, someone mentioned that they would not replace the phone without it acting up while you were there...i can't remember if you wanted a new dare or a different phone, but if you just want a new dare, and its less than one year, they need to give you the new phone. good luck!
