I have a panasonic TH-42PD25 and it will not display the signal from my PS2. i have tried switching from component to composite with no success. it will display the component signal from cable box and DVD but not the composite signal from the VCR. this is were it gets even stranger. if i activate PIP on the tv it will diplay, all be it with weird interference lines throughout. i have tried the PS2 on other TV's throughout the house and it works flawlessly on those.

Hi If you have changed your power supply then there is only one thing this can really be down to and i would say that is the main AV board as this sends a signal back to the power supply to tell it to turn on. You AV board is the one with the scarts etc... This board also causes other problems of your TV powering up but no picture and no functions will work. Change this board and im sure your problem will be solved. There are no other boards in this set that control the start up side,so if you have changed the poiwer supply then it will be this board that needs replacing. Hope this helps
Hello Ansarielectr, The Panasonic TH-42PWD7 is a professional grade progressive wide screen plasma display. It's not your normal HDTV. You probably already know this. This display requires a component /composite video terminal Board that mounts to slots 1 & 2, or slots 2 & 3. The item number for this component is TY-42TM6Y and can be purchased through the Panasonic support website here for about $270. Once you have this component, you can connect the TH-42PWD7 to a digital HDTV cable box to receive signals. Just make sure you're on the right input signal. Hope this helps.
Second hand price is difficult to say, probably about $500. If the unit is in good shape it does not go down too much. New RRP is over $1000, offers however start at about US$600 (about £400 in UK). Probably you can find a little cheper in Ebay.
I suggest not buying a second hand plasma. Plasma TVs have a couple of weakness points, and often break down after few years usage. If you buy a second hand you do not have any info on its usage, and you may find yourself in need of changing a sustain board within the year.
Make sure if your using the video input jacks, that the yellow is plugged into Video 1 and the same with the audio.Red & White. If your using Component, they are color coded- Red Blue & Green along with the Audio In -Red & White. It sounds like you have the video in the wrong jack.
You need to have your television tuner tested for faulty components. Your problem is caused by the components in you tuner overheating and losing functionality. The tuner need to be thoroughly test and repaired. You can reach Panasonic customer support at this telephone number. 1-888-843-9788. They should be able to tell you what the problem is and where to take it for repair. I hope this information helps you with your problem.
