The menu kept popping up no matter what I did. I even tried taking the batteries out of the remote and restarting the TV. Looks like my problem was with the obsolete software. The software upgrade provided here worked perfectly. Apparently i hadn't upgraded it for two years, no wonder it went cookoo. The problem's fixed and the software is upgraded i am more than satisfied with this wbsite. Thanks guys.

You need a software upgrade. It is free. Go to Philips.com and enter your model. You will find the software upgrade info there. You need a USB memory stick. Easy to follow instructions are at the website. Another issue with these is the cable from the IR rec is dressed too close to some large coils on the X board. The cables need to be rerouted.

Sounds like the button cluster has an issue...see if the menu button is stuck and if not, repair may be needed to disassemble the TV and have a look at the control section.

As you did not state whether you are using a Mac or Windows computer I am assuming you are using Windows.

Be sure your pop-up blocker is turned on. this is found in the tools menu. Also check to see if the pop-up blocker settings are allowing this site to run pop-ups. If this does not work I recommend the following.

I'm assuming you're using microsoft's browser. Go to >tools>internet options>browsing history>delete and delete temporary internet files and then delete cookies. You will lose automatic log on passwords and login names so be sure you have recorded them. Reboot your machine and hopefully these pop ups will go away.

try bringing up the menu, and see if there's an option "factory default", and try that. you didn't mention what button on the remote you press to get rid of the popup, or what feature you are turning off to get rid of the popup,
