Question about Kenmore 60172 Electric Commercial Dryer
My one year old Kenmore dryer kicks off the breakers after running for a few minutes; it restarts and does it again. It does it on all settings and there are no obvious signs of blockage as there is a lot of air venting outside. It does not shut off on lightweight sheets or shirts but does it on heavy jeans and towels even though the dryer is not overloaded.
Sounds like you have a high limit thermostat that is failing. Hence, the reason it works on light weight items, but not on heavier items where more heat is required. When replacing the high limit thermostat it's also a good idea to replace the thermal cut-out (they are usually sold in pairs). Both should be mounted somewhere near the heating element, and both have two wires going to them. Remove power to the dryer before servicing, however. There is one more thermostat the is called the operating thermostat. It has four wires going to it and is mounted near the blower fan housing. There's a chance it could be malfunctioning but I doubt it. Let me know what you find and if I can help any further.

I think you're right on the money!
My dryer does not heat when dying. I already changed the heater element. And it still didn't work. So, I am now replacing the thermal cut off and high limit thermostat. However, the high limit thermostat has been updated and looks different now. What is the wire in the kit for? Why does it seem like I don't have a place to hook up the orange wire?
