Run REGEDIT, open up the following folders: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SYSTEM CurrentControlSet Control Class {4D36E965-E325 -11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} After clicking on {4D36E965-E325 -11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} you should see two settings on the right-hand side: "Upperfilters" "Lowerfilters" Click on each of them, press DELETE and click YES. Hopefully the hardware should be recognised

What is PCI bus, device 16 function 1 Code 28

While I do not know exactly what would cause your computer to display that code, I can safely assume that you are using a pci sound card if you are getting a pci error, and your sound is not working. In short, yes, the pci problem is almost definitely related to your sound problem.

I have installed Windows XP on my PC. However, after initializing the PC, I have found that there is no sound coming & an error is encountered while Bad DirectSound Driver, please install proper...

so, you should install your sound driver  follow the step below to reinstall it.
start/ right click my computer/ choose Properties in system properties, choose Hardware tab. Click Device Manager check if there's yellow question mark in it. If so, that's where the driver perform not normal. Delete it, and restart your windows to reinstall that driver.

Hi thr,
If u r runnin Windows XP, Go to control panel. click on system->hardware->Device Manager n check to see if the sound drivers r installed properly. If the lists shows a yellow exclamation mark on PCI DEVICE, It means u need to install microsoft universal audio articeture drivers first. u can search for it on yahoo or any other searchengine to get the link. download and install microsoft uaa drivers, Uninstall the PCI device from device manager and re-install the audio drivers. I hope it works this way. Thank u

Installing windows xp on hp pavilion dv 6516 tx

I'm not sure solution #1 is very explanatory, so....

IF you want to install XP on your computer, Windows XP will load most of the drivers you need automatically.
For the drivers that are specific to your HP pavilion
you will be able to download device drivers from HP website
or, request a driver CD

When XP is installed [assuming you or someone can do that]
you can:
Go to the 'My Computer' icon [right-click]
Choose:
  • 'Properties'
  • Then Choose 'Hardware'
  • Finally, choose 'Device Manager'
Here you will have a list of all your hardware
If you have any drivers that need to be installed, there should be
a yellow (?) question mark by the name of the hardware

Most devices/hardware will be handled by XP SP2
The default drivers will be loaded automatically
For example, your keyboard:

e83fe6a.jpg

Above you see the window that opens if I double-click on
the 'Keyboard' icon.

For XP to function, you only have to worry about the ones
with the yellow (?) question mark

Or, if you want to add a specific driver, like a Video or Sound driver, but you don't see a yellow (?) question mark
you can still install/update the driver at the 'driver' tab
[second tab in the picture above]

If you need more specific help I can do that too
