Promaster makes many different lenses. Some of their older lenses do not have the electronics to communicate with newer digital cameras, and you have to shoot in Manual mode. Could you tell us which lens you're asking about?

Thank u for your solution, the new lense is a Promaster spectrum 7 auto zoom 60-300. I got it 2 work, put my camera setting on manual, now I have to buy a bigger flash because built in flash isn't big enough 4 lense. I have a bigger flash but could not get it 2 work

I believe Promaster does not have any lenses with focus motor in the lens, so it will not autofocus with your D60. Their AF versions for Nikon will work with your camera's metering system for proper exposure, but you would have to focus manually.

Do the older zoom lenses from the film cameras work with any of the newer digital cameras? I have 2 promaster lenses and didn't want to throw without checking.

In general, yes. The camera manufacturers did not change the lens mount when then went from film to digital, so as not to obsolete their own lenses. So if your lenses have a Nikon mount, for example, they will work on a Nikon digital camera.

Can you use the Quantaray 70-300mm on the Nikon d3000 and or can you use Nikon 55-200mm on the d3000

The Nikon lens, absolutely.

Quantaray makes their lenses with a variety of mounts. A lens with a Canon mount, for example, will not fit on the D3000. Assuming the lens has a Nikon mount, then yes, it will work with the D3000.

Does the nikon nikkor af 70-210mm telephoto lens fit on a nikon d3000?

Yes. The smaller sensor of the D3000 will make it the equivalent of about a 105-315mm lens on a 35mm film or full-frame digital camera. Also, the autofocus will not work with the D3000.

Is the Wide angle converter (Nikon Wc-E68) compatible with the D3000?

No. The converter is intended for certain point&shoot cameras. It is designed to fit in front of the much smaller lenses. The D3000 has interchangeable lenses, so you can simply remove whatever lens you have on it and attach a wide-angle lens.

I have a Nikon d3000 and a Tamron AF 55-200mm lens. I cant get the lens to autofocus with my nikon

The Nikon D3000 does not have a focusing motor built-in, relying on the lens to have a motor. The Tamron AF 55-200mm does not have the necessary motor; it only auto-focuses with Nikon cameras that have the motor in the camera body.

For Nikon lenses, you need lenses designated AF-S. For Tamron, you need lenses designated USD and/or BIM.

That probably wasn't the answer you wanted to see, but there it is.

Is this a good lens?

That lens have a FD mount. That means that you need to an adapter to use on a New Digital Canon Camera. The problem with the FD-EF adapter is that the it has a lens inside to correct the focal point. It's usually a very BAD glass. The 60-300 F4 will become something like a 84-420 F8. You will loose all sharpness. My opinion is DONT use FD lens on a EOS Camera.
