My psp died so i put it on charge and now it won't turn on again. The green light comes on but the screen doesn't. This happened the last time i charged it but after a few days it worked. Can someone tell me what i'm doing wrong?

I was updating my PSP software and then I wanted to cancel but because I couldn't I ejected the UMD with the update. Then the PSP froze and eventually turned off. Since then I turn on the PSP after charging, and the green light turns on, but the screen does not. after a while the green light turns off. I have tried charging and I tried all the buttons. My charger was working just fine before, though.

When i turn on my psp the green light will come on but the screen won't come on and then a few seconds later the green light will shut off completely.

Hi tokyo_grl,
First you have to figure out what is causing the problem. Try the following steps.

1. Remove anything that is connected to the PSP, including the
Memory Stick, battery and any UMD games.
2. Plug the charger into both the wall and the PSP system, then wait for at least 30 seconds before turning the psp on.
--If the PSP turns on, your problem is not with your PSP, but with an accessory that was previously attached. If it does not turn on, your PSP is in need of a repair.
3. Next, unplug the power adapter from the PSP, and firmly place the battery into the PSP.
4. Plug in the Power Adapter once again, and wait at least 30 minutes for the PSP to begin charging, then try and power on the PSP system.
--If the PSP does not power on with the battery plugged in, but it did with just the charger, you need a new battery. If it powers on, do the next step.
5. Place the Memory Stick inside the PSP , and turn on the power. If the PSP does not turn on, but it turned on without the memory, you need a new memory stick.

If your PSP did not turn on during step 2, your PSP is bricked and indeed needs to be repaired by a qualified technician. I hope everything works out for you. Good luck.

I charged my PSP with a universal charger and wrong polarity. My PSP immediately shut off. when I tried to turn it on again it would not turn on, and the green light does not light up either. when I charge...

Sounds like the battery is charged fully. If you know someone else who has another psp, try putting the battery into his/hers and see if it starts up. If so, your psp may have been fried. There is not much you can do.

Psp fell ,turn psp on.green light turns on.screen stays off

Hi first i will say sorry for that. I will recommend that you see a certified technician to fix it up, there are a few things i guess are wrong with your psp... the system of psp are fragile and should be handled with care because i think one or more parts are broken and need replacement. Cheers

Green light comes on but nothing else turns on

I'll give you the quick story of what they did. They "bricked" the PSP. This is a term used by all PSP hackers. When you try to hack the system so you can play pirated games on the system, you will occasionally get an error that causes the system to be "bricked". They use the word "brick" because once it happens, the PSP becomes as fun as a brick. You really can't do much about it. Your best bet is to call Sony and see what they can do for you. If you know anyone else that knows what they're doing with PSPs, you could always ask them to fix it for you, but Sony would be the easiest. They won't do it for free, but they will fix it for you. 1-800-345-SONY

Power problems

Hi Gohan102,

Open the battery compartment, and remove the battery.  Look at the bottom inside corner for a little square sticker with has marks on it. is it dark or light,  If it is dark, your PSP has come in contact with moisture. I suspect that your PSP has gotten wet or damp.  If the sticker is dark, you need to keep your battery out for about 2 days, and keep the UMD door open and the whole PSP kept in a dry environment.  Try it after 2 days of drying to see if it is recovered. Good luck Gohan....
