My laptop freezes at hp screen with F10 to enter ROM Setup, so I hit F10, and after about 3 minutes a black screen appears with a blue screen saying drivelock multibay password in it. Sometimes it just...

Switch ON the PC, boot the PC in 'Safe Mode' by continuously tapping F8 button after just after you switch On until you get Safe Mode Option.

Let windows boot in Safe Mode and log in to windows.

Go to 'Start'--->Programs--->Accessories--->System Tools--->Click 'System Restore'

A 'System Restore' window will appear.

Here you will have to check "Restore computer to an earlier time' and click Next

Now you will find one Month Calendar window with Dates below, go to the previous month by clicking the '<' sign in the upper left hand corner of the Month Calendar and select any date that you see in Bold.

Note: It is better if you could remember from which date you are facing the issue, try to select a date prior to that date.

The detail of that particular date should show "System Checkpoint" and time on the right hand side box. Select that date.

Now, Click on Next and System Restore will start and windows will take a reboot.

After reboot your problem should be resolved.

I treid pressing the power botton with the 0 butter to to a system restore and now the computer boots up to the black screen asking to start windows once i press that the compiter freeze up. what do i do...

Your trying to do a factory restore the proper way which is good. Since its not going into the factory restore, that tells me that 2nd partition is either not there or corrupted. Also since you cant get into windows properly, you may want to turn on the laptop and keep pressing F8. When you get into that boot menu choose safe mode.

If you can get into windows this way then go ahead and either click on the start menu button or the circle with the windows logo in the bottom left hand corner, go into programs, accessories, system tools and then choose system restore. Choose the date that is in bold that you remember the last time the laptop was working. Then choose it and let it go thru the system restore. As it reboots, If you can get back into windows then your good. If it still freezes up or doesn't let you go into windows, then you'll needs to get a windows cd and reinstall windows, then the drivers for the hardware and then any software you want back on the computer.

I turn on my laptop, and the computer gets to the screen where it says "starting windows" and it does not go any further. It freezes at that point.

1. Disconnect all external devices (printers, USB hubs, USB drives, etc...) and then boot up. If this corrects the issue then add the devices back one at a time until you discover the piece of hardware causing the issue. Then get any updated drivers\software for the device.
2. Use the"Last known good configuration" from the Windows Advanced Options menu. If this option resolves the issue then look for any updates or software installs that may have caused the problem.
3. Boot to Safe Mode from the Windows Advanced Options menu.If you can get into safe mode then the issue could be driver or software related. From within Safe Mode run a System Restore.
4. Perform a Clean Boot

Starting problem

Immediately after seeing the Dell logo, keep tapping the 'F8' key,
until you see a "menu" (white text over a black background)
giving "startup" options for Windows XP.

Select "Safe Mode" and see if you can start in that mode.
Then, use "System Restore" to go "back" in time, to the most-recent checkpoint (date/time) where your computer _DID_ work.

Restore to that point, and restart.

Toshiba G15 laptop has green lines and will not boot past Windows logo, it freezes there. Can anyone help?

reboot in Safe Made by pressing F8 at boot up. Then restore the system to an earlier date. This may be happening due to some malicious prog that you have installed or due to a virus. If due to a virus, the install AVG Anti Virus free from www. download.com.
