There was an electrical blackout in my neighborhood and my refrigerator
model Hotpoint HTS22GBPBRWW stopped cooling on the bottom part plus the
AC/DC motor fan in the freezer does not work even though the freezer
does freeze slowly. My son, an electrician, removed it and tried to
test it with current but it didnt budg. Should we replace it or check
for something else?. Mind you we live in a very isolated place up in
the mountain and its hard to get a tech up here to check or to move it
to a tech's. shop
Replace the fan - it's called the evaporator fan. It circulates cold air evenly in the freezer and blows cold air into the refrigerator section. Its failure would cause the symptoms you describe. Good luck with the repair.
