Unable to open twain source
SOURCE: Error message
Hi toolpusher
Try going to CanoScan Toolbox > Settings and reset the 'defaults' button at bottom... this will restore factory settings and hopefully fix your problem... The other error message you can expect to get is "unable to scan - insufficent memory, check your **** space' (or something similar)... same fix works for both! ...Have had both messages on mine, sounds like a semi-regular conflict on some sort, but seems to be easily fixed. Good luck :-)
SOURCE: Unable to set TWAIN capabilities. When I try to
Unfortunately solving the problem might come down to reinstalling windows to the computer entirely. I think it would be best for you to keep using the program where it works.
I'dd suggest that you back up all your files etc, to a external hard drive, and then use the recovery disc that came with your computer to reinstall it to the state it used to be when purchased. or use a windows installation cd.
Then install the scanner back and it should work fine.

Well I had a code 15 error with mine LIDE 20. Apparently the scanner needs a certain amount of power to run off the USB port. So I changed the USB port and problem fixed

Select your operating system and download the driver "TWAIN Driver - LiDE 20 Scanner Driver Ver. 7.0.3.1a_xp" and then download the software "Canoscan toolbox" ...here is the link:

It didn't like the USB connection to a hub, although it's been running there ok for 6 months. I re-plugged the device to a dedicated USB port and it re-installed ok. I already defined the Path (see Jeff Widmer's blog) 6 months ago. Seems ok now - Derek
