Sound when i am on a video call using msn messenger, the person that i cam talking to can hear me but i cant hear them. When i use the spdif interface that came with the cam all the sound on my computer goes away.

Web Camera's have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set
it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.

Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.

A. Skype Setup:
After downloading and installing Skype

set it up as follows:
Go to Tools, then Options, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
Then click on the Video Settings.
The camera, if Installed Properly, it will come up and show a video picture.
Then, on the bottom of the page click save.
The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now be able to see and hear you.

B. Yahoo Setup:
After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger

set it up as follows:
Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
Next go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on "Open the call setup assistant" and follow the instructions on the left window.

C. Windows Live Messenger:

After you start Windows Live Messenger, expand the view by clicking on the square on top left next to the red X.
Then on the Windows Live messenger window on the right side, click on " "Show Menus." And then click on "Show the Menu Bar".
Next go to the Menu Bar on right side, click on " "Action."
Go to "TOOLS" and click "Audio and Video Setting" and follow the instructions.
NOTE: Your audio and video should work. Enjoy.
When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.

D. AIM (AOL) Messenger:

On the VIM sign-in window click on Edit.
Then click on Settings Enhanced IM.
Next click on Enhanced IM.
Then click on Audio Video.
The Audio and Video portion has drop downs so you can select the proper audio card and video camera installed in you computer.
The Audi Video drop downs are
Microphone
Speaker
Camera
The audio and camera should function now.

You can use one of many services, MSN messenger, Google Video Chat, Skype, these services are usually free.

The other person you wish to talk to should also use the same software to make thing easier.

This problem are just like a yahoo messenger web camera show up in your screen but the other person cannot see you.
All you have to do is to check your internet connection probably is excellent and no other programs use it.
Often also is your Messenger if you have this problem Turn-OFF you MSN and Turn-ON again.
Or use a lower version of MSN Messenger. 100% work like MSN 7.0 or Beta.

Plug webcam in
Click (>) show menu > tools > audio and video set-up > run through mic and speaker tests > next > set your camera as defaut and adjust settings > finish

You may have to into the MSN Video and Audio Configuration utility and make it use the mic built into the webcam. It may be looking for audio input from another source, if this is the case, it won't work from the Cam itself.

Check you microphone settings in you audio mixer and make sure it is enabled for the web camera and not your sound card.

Although we cannot directly support audio issues in MSN Messenger, the following steps have been known to resolve and improve audio issues in MSN Messenger. Test Your Networking Router
You can also test to see if your router is causing audio issues by either physically bypassing your router and connecting directly to your cable/DSL modem or by setting up your computer as the DMZ (de-militarized zone). Enable Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) on both Windows XP and Your Router.
If either of the above steps resolves the no audio problem, try the following steps.

1. Open Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel. To open Add or Remove Programs, click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Add or Remove Programs.
2. Click Add/Remove Windows Components.
3. In the Components list, select the Networking Services check box, and then click Details.

Notes: If you used a CD to set up Windows, you will be prompted to insert it into your computer.
If your router does not support UPnP or you still get no audio after enabling UPnP on both Windows XP and your router, you must manually open all UDP ports between 5004 and 65535. This is because the audio streams are sent dynamically using that range of ports. Without a dynamic way to open those ports like UPnP, there is no way for MSN Messenger to successfully negotiate the audio stream. Consult your router's documentation for instructions to manually open these required ports.

yes you need to use yahoo or msn and then chat with that person and if you want to see them on cam you invite them to view webcam.

When i try to talk to talk to anyone on msn with the VX6000 webcam they cannot hear me for screeches, echos and distorted voice, i have tried everything on support site and got nowhere. When i test in voice playback it does the same. Any help appreciated!
