Whirlpool gold quiet partner iii was making humming noise. I took apart and found a couple of rubber and a plastic straw. Thinking I had it fixed, I ran a cycle. It started fine, however it stops using water. Same with rinse cycle. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

An angel of mercy on another blog posted this solution and it worked for me as well. My Whirlpool Quiet Partner Dishwasher would not work due to the CLEAN light flashing in 7 interval sequences. I followed these steps and my dishwasher is not working perfectly...hope it works for you:

"Well for mine which is a Whirlpool Gold Model # GU2400XTPS3, I found the seq of buttons that I had to push to reset the curcuit board. I think it may of been in this forum somewhere. But I had to push - Sani Rinse, Heated Dry, Sani Rinse, Heated Dry, and then the dishwasher went through it's diagnostic cycle and then after that the light stopped blinking and the dishwasher works great. Supposily, there is a Product Tech Sheet behide the kick panel of every dishwasher, but mine was gone so I had to find the information on the internet. You might want to do a serach for the correct seq of buttons you have to push to reset the curcuit board. If you know for sure that the heating element is bad, you will have to order one. "

now you'll be able too hear under the tub if motor bearing was the noise.put a long tool to the motor and close to you ear,see if that gives you a clue[i don't want you to give up on it if its not the motor]if was to buy that motor wholesale it would be around 50 bucks or so ,retail about 100 or so.so if replacing depends on the shape of the rest of the unit.[i have sold and installed many]new dishwasher on sale 300$ or so,plus your time to install.but if new its a forsure thing.so depends how much motor,how sure you are wiill solve problem,what shape unit in.hope that helps. the cap doesn't come off, you just have to open the door all the way. then, when you pour the rinse aid into the dial area, it will get sucked into the dispenser. but if the door isn't open all the way it won't go anywhere and will overflow on you.

This is a bad wash pump. Looking at about $175 for just the sump assembly. You could do it yourself, but unit would need to be uninstalled.

On a "normal wash cycle"
turn all the spray arms at the 12 o'clock position.
Please answer the folling questions.
Will water enter the unit?
After water has stopped entering the unit can you hear the wash cycle start? The wash pump on? and water being sprayed?
Now open the door and see if the spray arms have moved.
Reading what you have posted I just want to make sure that there is never a wash cycle running.
