Flash Problem I have an Olympus Stilys 710 all weather camera i got it about 3 months ago, lately, i havent been able to take pictures with flash. It shows a blinking red flash icon on the screen as if the flash was charging or getting ready for the p icture, but the flash never charges and I cant take the picture. is there any chance I can fix it on my own?

same problem, I think it must be a fault with the camera as there are a few on here with same post.

No solutions other than take it for professional repair...DUH!

There is no chance you can fix it.. you need prof service to fix it. internal flash circuitry malfunction is present. try shooting in program mode or manual setting ( not using flash).

Camera will not take pictures when the flash is on

You may have a weak battery. If the flash doesn't have enough power, it will continue to try to recharge thus preventing you from taking a picture. Turning it off allows the pic to be taken.

If there is a red blinking flash constantly blinking on the LCD screen of the camera this indicates a failure with the flash charging sensor in the camera. It has failed and needs to be replaced.

Olympus will charge a flat rate repair fee for this product if beyond the one year factory warranty or the warranty is voided. The cost is $76 plus your local sales tax. This covers parts and labor, factory cleaning and diagnostic check, 6 month warranty and the cost of shipping the product back to you is all included in that price.

No Flash -- Olympus 710

This is actually a repair issue with the camera. The flash charging indicator switch needs to be replaced. You may want to call Olympus Customer Service to discuss repair policies and procedures. Their telephone number is 800-622-6372 option 2 and then option 3.

Flash problems

Hey emeffem,
What is most likely causing this is that the flash is set to off which would be symbolized by a lightening bolt sign crossed out. Directions on how to turn it back on are on page 13 of your camera manual. I have included a link to a PDF download of your camera manual in case you no longer have it. I hope this helps!

Olympus Stylus 710- no flash mode

I;ve been on the internet all morning researching the same problem. It appears it's a curcuit related problem with the flash. As of know, haven't got a solution other then buying another camera or taking paictures in manuel mode without flash.

Flash

I am having the same problem. For this indicator, the manual states "Camera movement warning/flash charge". I'm guessing that the flash is no longer functioning. Note you can force the flash to OFF and camera will function without a flash.

by dropping you can damage the charging circuit of the flash unit. flash tube is the later part. it seems that the charging circuit of the camera is not working thus it hangs the camera when flash is switched on.
