Question about Seagate (ST3300601U2-RK) (ST3300601U2RK) 300 GB Hard Drive

1 Answer

Data has disappeared

The hard drive was disconnected from the computer and now when I try to open it I can no longer access it. The blue light for the on/off button is flashing on and off - any ideas on what I can do? In Device manager it says that there are no drivers installed but i'm unsure what this means....

My iqon hard drive will power up but i cant access it

Clicking sound on an external hard drive is an indication that it's quiting to work. You mentioned that it's just stopped working, you may need to check the Disk Management of your computer to see if you could still reformat it. To do this, please follow the steps below:

FOR WINDOWS XP AND VISTA:

1. Make sure that the HD is properly connected to the computer.
2. Right-click 'My Computer' or 'Computer' folder and then go to "Manage".
3. Locate and click Disk Management.
4. Then, take note of the drive letters that will appear on the screen.
5. While the Disk Management window is opened, unplug the HD and check which drive letter will disappear.
6. If a drive letter disappears, then that is your external 250GB HD. You may reformat it to make it work again.

NOTE: Reformatting the HD will erase all the files saved in it. You may want to bring your HD in any data recovery center to retrieve the important files. If the HD didn't show up under your Disk Management, then there's nothing that we could do but to bring your HD in to the Data Recovery to save the files.

FOR MACINTOSH OSX:

1. Connect your HD to the computer.
2. Click 'Go' (located near the Apple icon, Finder, File, Edit and View).
3. Select Utilities and then click the Disk Utility Icon.
4. Take note the drive letters and then unplug the HD.

If a drive letter disappears, that's your HD. If nothing disappears, then the computer no longer detecting the HD.

Good luck!

Trekstor external hard drive (DSMNU-S-JM-a) is on (blue light) but the device no longer shows up on the computer. Can't be accessed.

try other usb port, or other computer and see whether the hdd is detected. If still not, try to go to device manager ( http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000833.htm ), and then assign a drive letter to the hdd. After that, try to access it from Computer, if not able to access it, format it (use quick format) and then use this file recovery program called asoftech data recovery to recover your files.

How to repair and recover WD5000AAKS hard drive

The problem may be there in your hard drive, try the hard drive with another computer and if the problem persists, go to the nearest Service Center of the Manufacturer.

If the problem is solved on another computer, try repairing your OS first.

Hope this helps, Mrityunjay.

I recently tried to access data from my Acomdata HD500 UF only to find that my Mac no longer detected it. The blue light comes on, but no fan sounds. Is it dead? Can I recover my old family photos,...

the hard drive may be dead.

stores like best buy offer services of data retrieval, although success is not 100% guaranteed, and these services generally are not cheap.

Lights are flashing

Here is a fix.
Open the drive case up. Inside is a SATA hard drive. If you reseat the drive it may correct the problem. If not you can put it into a computer and see if you access the drive.

We used a Linux boot CD in case their was a problem with the data. We used KNOPIX. THe data was intact and we did a backup befroe we put the drive back together.

They also offer a restore service if you get an RMA.

Drive Being Recognized as Removable Disk

Same issue with my 500 GB TFD500U16. A little more description is that my PC is detecting the power when turning on the drive and the HDD itself is spinning up. Also the Blue light that normally indicates HDD activity by turning Red no longer shows activity but just stays Blue. This indicates that the data side of the HDD is not seated properly. Since mine is out of Warranty, I took it apart and found this to be the exact case.
! ! ! ! Please perform this at your own risk ! ! ! ! Especially if your warranty is still in effect! ! ! By loosening the HDD mounting screws inside that will allow the connection to seat properly and data to be seen.
