I recently bought an Xbox 360 and plugged it into the back of my TV. However, the TV refuses to show anything from the Xbox 360. I tried Autoprogramming it, and it erased all of my channels except for 1,...

MOST of their older sets are set up where the AV inputs are channels 90-93 ; if you had no signal other than the game the set will skip all those channels out.

If you have a working remote for it direct enter 90-93 one at a time .

Nothing hooked to cable fitting means set will see no signal and skip them out when auto program is engaged.

Channels 3, 4, 5, and 7 are mute. The mute button has no effect.

there should be an audio section of your tv
Go through each of your setting s and be sure nothing was changed. goto setup and reset to factory settings. your TV will do something funky and powercycle.
THAT should fix your problem.
if not, is your cable service through your VCR? if so, remove the vcr altogether and connect your cable services directly. All should now be a go.

Channel setup

You will have to run the Autoprogram menu function from the menu. Here are the steps

Press the MENU button on the remote control.
Use the cursor down to select Installation in the Settings menu.
Use the cursor right to enter the Installation menu.
Select Autoprogram in the Installation menu.
Use the cursor right to enter the Autoprogram menu.
Press the OK button.
Select Cable or Antenna in the Installation mode.
When Antenna is selected, the TV will detect antenna signals and will search for antenna TV (NTSC and ATSC) channels available in your local area.
When Cable is selected, the TV will detect cable company supplied signals and will search for cable TV (NTSC,ATSC, QAM modulated) channels available in your area.
Make sure that registration with your cable TV provider and connection of equipment are completed.
Press the green button “Next” on the remote control.
Press the green button “Start” to start autoprogramming.
The menu screen disappears and the progress of autoprogramming is displayed. The progress bar indicates the number of analog and digital TV channels found. (Also digital channels via CableCARD are being programmed.
When Autoprogramming is complete, a message appears confirming the completion and the TV switches to the first installed TV channel.

Autoprogramming

On many televisions with built-in tuners, you have to tell the tuner whether it will be connected to cable or antenna, since the RF spectrum is different for these.  Make sure you have cable selected (assuming you are connecting to the cable service) and then try the autoprogramming again.

Poor screen resolution and unable to get channel guide.

The channel guide is a service just like closed caption. Rumer has it that it's not going to be around for much longer. The only fix is to unplug set ..wait awhile till memory loss occurs...plug back up and do a setup. Nothing in the TV will cause partial guide. Weak signal could and cause fuzzy picture too. Complain to cable company. But brightness problem is something else.

No display

Press the DVD button on the Philips remote. Make sure the yellow part of the RCA cable is plugged into Output/CVBS/Out on the back of the Philips, and that it is plugged into a yellow input of your TV. Change your TV channel to Av1, av2, video 1, video 2, aux, aux 2, or whatever the correct video channel is on your TV. Then press setup - you will get your picture.
In order for the coax connection to work on Ch. 3 of your TV, you will have to get an additional piece of equipment - an RF modulator. It's better just to stick with the RCA red, yellow, white cables.
