Just bought new Canon point-and-shoot and downloaded the provided software which included ImageBroswer Ex. It downloaded fine but then when I try to open the program, it only starts up to 80% and then I get an error message that says "failed to load properly.Verify that Silverlight is properly installed and start Image Browser EX again". I've checked Silverlight, even tried uninstalling and then reinstalling but nothing will work??
It is important, that you ALLOW in the InternetOption of IE the ActiveX
- Run ActiveX controls and plugins
I solved the problem with deleting the imagebroser database
with IBX_DBcleaner.exe
Method 1: Silverlight Clean Installation
Step 1: Download Rkill from the below link and run the Rkill and end the suspicious process in the computer
RKill is a program designed to terminate malicious processes currently running on the computer.
Note RKill Just terminates the process and doesn't remove the virus.

d1/windows/security/security-utilities/r/rkill/rkill.com
Save the Rkill.exe on desktop.
Double-click the Rkill icon and run Rkill.exe
You will see a black MS DOS dialog box. Rkill will terminate the unknown processes
It will take several minute before a Notepad file containing log information on what Rkill
found will open.
Check for any unknown processes running directly from Appdata or Temp folder or
Program Data C:\Users\<User Name>\AppData\Local
C:\Users\<User Name>\AppData\Roaming
C:\Users\<User Name>\AppData\Local\Temp
C:\Documents and Settings\<User name>\Application data (Windows XP)
Do Not Delete any content inside Appdata local folder the subfolders other than Temp. Delete the files only if it is detected and closed by Rkill that is loading from APPdata Local folder directly or Temp folder or Roaming folders

Reading wht you are saying I agree that the problem is not the camera, cable, CD, etc... but your PC.
I assume you wife's computer is also running on Windows XP.
Can you verify that you have the administrator rights on your computer? Go under Start, Settings, Control Panel, User Accounts and be sure that close to your name is saying Administrator like in this example
Another things to verify is that you don't have The Windows firewall blocking your application, again go under Control Panel and temporary disable it.
Last but not least use the ZoomBrowser 5.8 or higher.
Let me know the result.
