After using this device for about a year and a half yesterday it would not come up. The symptom is that I push the on button and nothing happens at all. I charged the battery and tried again getting the same result. I hit the reset pin got same. I tried holding down the On button while plugging it into the usb port, still nothing.
Does anyone have any ideas of how to fix? I am technically inclined so expected to tear into it in the next few days but would like to hear of someone elses experience first.

Most likely your battery has died. You can purchase a new one from the iriver website, or find a used one on ebay. I just bought one for my h10 off ebay for about $12.
does the display indicate that the battery is charging when it's plugged in?
does your pc recognize the device as a valid drive? if so, you may want to try reformatting it. right click on the device in the 'my computer' folder.
if it's not recognized by your computer, try connecting it with the battery removed. It's a flash drive player so it shouldn't need power for your computer to find it.

Wiring is not best suspect. If all the Leviton devices were installed same time, they may be failing at same time due to lifespan. For example, ordinary on-off switch is a mechanical device with mechanical parts, and mechanical switches last many years longer than wiring devices that have electronic parts. Hi Ozzieange.....the most common cause of this symptom for your specific player is that it's set on "hold". Ensure that "hold" isn't selected.

Once these tasks are successfully completed, your Player, and the neccessary Software for your computer to properly communicate with your Player are now current and fully functional.

When your iriver H10 has corrupt files you may want to solve the issue by formatting the player's hard drive.
This is how I did it with my H10 5GB (so called 'MTP device' thats recognized by Windows as a portable device i.e. "Windows Portable devices".
To do so follow 2 steps:
step 1: Format the hard drive of your H10.
step 2: Re-install the player's firmware.
step 1: Format the hard drive of your H10:
1. Make sure your H10 is turned off and disconnected from the computer.
2. Take out the battery, wait a second, and put the battery back in.
3. Turn on the hold switch (so that you don't accidentally turn the H10 on all the way).
4. Plug the H10 into your computer.
5. Turn on the H10 while holding the "O" button.
On your H10 screen You will see the message "UMS Mode" if you have done everything correctly. You can now let go of the "O" button.
6. On your computer, start Windows Explorer, navigate to the drive, right click and select 'Format'.
step 2: Re-install the player's firmware.
1. Download and install iriver Firmware Updater v220.127.116.11.

2. Start the newly installed software and follow the Wizard. I clicked the 'USA' button when asked where I bought the device. This should install the MTP firmware.
3. Wait for the software to complete and disconnect your device from the computer.
4. Wait for your device to install the new Firmware.
Resetting the TV If the buttons on the remote AND the buttons on the TV case do not work (channels do not change and you cannot open or navigate the menu), the TV has stopped responding. Reset the TV as follows:

LCD TV TroubleshootingThe defective LCD TV may have the following common symptoms:

If you have any of the following problems you may want to check the site www.tvrepairkits.com for a repair kit. Most of the issue below are fairly common with the older Magnavox projection sets.
Symptom: Screen shrinks and expands - may or may not correct itself after the TV warms up. After a few days, weeks, or months of having the shrinking/expanding problem you may loose all audio/video but the power light will remain lit!

I am using windows2000 OS, can not yet justify a faster Pc to run XP .. following is what I use to load and manage my MP3 audio files on my H10 20GB
>using an alternative to WMP 10, I use 'EasyH10' .. prepares an H10 player without iriver
plus or Windows Media Player 10 based on music and playlist files transferred manually using windows Explorer

- In Windows Explorer locate the ' removable drive'
- Transfer your music files with tag information to 'Music' directory on H10
- Run EasyH10
- for Media database construction to display songs in MUSIC mode.
- Playlist conversion, a necessary process for your playlist files to become compatible
(recognizable) with an H10 player.
- EasyH10 also imports/exports tuner presets from/to a text file.
